Hello Everyone,

I was recommended this forum from others on Bimmerfest. I am a proud owner of a 2011 BMW 335is and I come here for your knowledge on how I may keep it in pristine condition.

I've done SOME research, and am looking to get a starters kit put together so I may get ready for a photoshoot within the next 3 weeks.

From what I've read, I was able to catch in what I think, was a good deal, and purchased the Porter-Cable 7424XP-Kit 6" Dual Action Polisher with a free Microfiber cloth for $125 shipped.

I don't want to spend a whole lot more (for now, maybe $100-$120 tops). I need everything else with the exception of a bucket and water. I'm not looking for "The Best", but rather, the best suggestions or what I can get with my budget.

Any and all responses are greatly appreciated and hope to be a long-time member!

Thanks!

Dave

Welcome to Autopia from another S. Floridian! This is the welcome sub-section and you'll more than likely get more responses to your question in another parts of the forum such as Car Detailing or Detailing Product sections. Good luck with your butter soft clearcoat too! It's a chore in itself. I hope it's not black!!!

Welcome! My suggestion would be to upload some pictures and speak about the general upkeep history of the car so far, if you can. Then the experienced people here can estimate what may work in *your* case.

Until that (if at all) happens, I would suggest (keeping it simple and economical), ONR (for the versatility), a fine clay, an all in one for light polishing/cleaning, a glaze for the extra shine and LSP prep, a nice wet/warm wax to compliment it all. 2 polishing and 2 finishing pads should be enough with care and proper cleaning.

Tire dressing, Metal/chrome polish, glass cleaner also needed.

Good luck with the shoot.

Great to hear, I'll post there.

By the way, here's a pic (good color guess!)

Rather than simply listing products, without any real guidance as to how to use them, I thought these would be a good starting point for you.

LOTS of great information in the Detailed Image Guide!!

Autopia Guide to Car Detailing and Car Care

Auto Detailing Guide - Detailed Image

One thing is for sure, you're on the right site for getting help from some incredibly knowledgeable folks...

Thanks, I'll check out those sites. Lots of info on them.

The car is only 2 months old. I drove it from Munich to Paris and it got a fresh wash and wax before going on the boat. It then got on the boat and came to North Carolina and got another wash and wax by BMW Performance Center. Then it got shipped to Miami, where dealer gave it yet ANOTHER wash and wax. I have yet to do anything to it, so I wanted to start off the right way.

I was of the following as a complete kit (feel free to add, delete, or change):

Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo Concentrate

Meguiars Smooth Surface Clay Kit

Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Liquid 2.0 wax

Meguiars M205 Ultra Finishing Polish

Forever Black Tire Gel

Mothers Billet Metal Polish

Stoner Invisible Glass and Mirror Cleaner

There are many ways to skin a cat. Or wax a Bimmer. Your list looks good. I bet the Euro delivery was a great adventure. Congrats.
