Hello From Long Ago

chilly

New member
Greetings from Alaska

I hadn't been able to get onto the forum in forever but with the switch to the new forum software my user name and ancient password actually worked

I guess I lost all my history and am essentially a newbie again, although my profile still had my birth date and stuff

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello

chilly

Glad you made it back, remember this forum is a mish-mash of the original Autopia.org, AutopiaForums.com, Detail City, and Truth In Detailing, so it's possible you have another identity somewhere with your posts. Just to recap, in 2011 (I think), Dwayne, who was working for PBMG at the time, sold Detail City to PBMG and it got renamed AutopiaForums. Somewhere in there CMA/PAC (Classic Motoring Accessories/Proper Auto Care) went under and PBMG bought them, including the Truth In Detailing forum, which got folded into Autopia Forums, and then PBMG bought Autopia.org from 3D and folded it back in as the primary domain. At the time Liz was helping people combine their various accounts, since it was possible to have 4 different ones, but she's long gone. Not sure if it's even possible to do that now that the forum has been migrated to XenForo.

Setec:
Thanks for this forum history information. While it may not be important to the newer users/members, it is to me because it tells of the ownership, its names, and the evolution and development of this forum as us older members remember what it was like and all the "troubles and turmoil" in has undergone AND certain individuals who were (and some still are) instrumental in that process. As I have stated many times, this forum and its members and their topics posts and responses are paramount to my enjoyment and getting the most out of my detailing hobby, as I am sure there are many other members and long-time lurkers who can echo this sentiment. That would not be possible if it were not for the companies. businesses, and individuals you have mentioned above for their contributions past-and-present to this forum.
Or to put it in a historical moral, "How can you know where you are going if you do not know where you have been."

Sorry to Chilly:
This thread is about you and your being in Alaska. Welcome back and don't be shy to ask questions or respond to thread topics.
I am not going to ask on how you detail in Alaska, seeing it is winter for 7 months out of the year up there.
I get enough flack about "winter" and detailing living in Green Bay Wisconsin just a few blocks from the "Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field", home of the Green Bay Packers National Football League team. Yes. I am a Packer fan (but NOT a "Cheesehead!"; hate/despise/dislike that moniker, although I LOVE Wisconsin cheese).
