Just wanted to say hello to all you DC folks. I just got a 2005 Corvette and I'm looking for tips on how to keep this baby lookin' good. Wife got me an NXT kit for Christmas, and luckily we had a break in our miserable Long Island winter weather so I was able to get in its 1st wash and wax job. Does QEW really work? I was thinking trying it so I could wash the vette in the garage when it's too cold to pull out the hoses.

welcome to dc, and nice car.. have fun driving it in winter in long island.. by the way, where in long island are you located?

anyways, good luck on keeping it in top condition, and hopefully the forums/threads on here will teach you alot.. just do a couple searches, and you'll learn mucho info. i cant help you with qew, since ive never used it. the nxt kit is a good start, except i dont think it has any swirl removers.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and link to info on QEW.

Right now I'm living in Medford (just north of LIE exit 63), how about you?

Welcome to the board!

QEW is a godsend here on LI. Two buckets, QEW and 15 minutes and that Vette will stay sweet. I would skip the NXT for the winter though and try some Four Star UPP or Poorboys EX for the winter. They will give better protection and longer durability for the winter. When I used NXT, slickness and beading lasted about 2-3 weeks. I am on 2 months with UPP and QEW, and it's still slick and beading.

Hello from LI as well.

I second Craig's stance on protection. I would go with something a bit stronger. For your car, I would go with...

Klasse AIO -> 4* UPP
or
Klasse AIO -> Zaino Z5
or
Klasse AIO -> Poorboy's EX

Any problems, just give them a quick search...plenty of info on them here.

Oh yeah, NavindraLR and I are both out off Exit 68.

Thank you all for the tips.

Craigster and GSRstilez: I'll give 4* UPP a try (along with QEW and Klasse AIO).

DFTowel: Leo, my wife also gave me a bunch of the AlpineFiber towels for Christmas - excellent!

as sean stated, im out @ exit 68... my schools around medford, atleast for this semester... then im gone :naughty but yeah, i think the aio then ex would look good on the color of your car. i have not tried the upp yet, but im sure that would be nice as well. From what i read though, i think the ex will give more depth.. what do you upp guys think?

I like the EX look on my Mach more than anything else I have used. It stays in the garage all winter though, and under a cover when not used in the summer so I really don't know about the durability. For protection and durability on my Maxx, I've found that UPP and Z5 have the best resistance to the LI winter weather.

I think the C6 body will look great with just about anything. Knowing the Chevy dealers on LI (especially if you got it from Smithtown), it could probably stand some SSR or FPII. Do that and a coat of UPP, EX or even NXT and I will get new sunglasses before I ride the LIE....

:D

welcome to Dc
There are a number of us here from LI.
There is a vast amount of knowledge here
