I am new to all this and I have been reading to try and learn better ways to detail my cars. I currently do everything by hand but I am thinking about getting a D/A polisher.

Welcome! Check out the Griots machine, Amazon has them on special from time to time. Once you use one, you'll wonder why you wasted so much time by hand!
