Does anybody know what the lift / sucking power of a Craftsman 6.25 vac is ? The tech at sears looked at me like I had lost it. On extractors, they say how much lift they have. Thanks.

i have that same vac. and it doesnt say anywhere in the manual. nobody at sears would have a clue about that. you would almost have to find out who really makes the vac. then call and ask them. ill do some looking around and see what i can come up with.

by the way its the best vac. i have ever user. looking to get another real soon.

Another way top rate them is by amp draw or wattage. It will not tell you how efficient the suction is but will give you an idea of power consumed by the motor.

If they both draw the same amperage the suction capabilites will be real close.

You could do a test by getting a bucket of water and getting on a ladder and holding the hose down in the bucket see how high it will raise the water. Might need a clear hose to see but heck experiments are fun!

Good Luck.

huh, i never thought about that. is that realy how they check the lift of a vac.?

just by seeing how far it will suck water into the air. i would think there would be more to it than that but it makes sence. i might have to try that on a slow day here soon. shop experiment! the guys will think im crazy.

Yes except they should be using pure water which does not have crap in it to change the specific gravity of it. Also it will be at some temperature.

Remember the barometer thingy in school that read in inches of mercury? Same principle but mercury for the fluid.

PS be careful and make sure your vac is a wet/dry vac.

Also the hose diameter may have an impact plus any leaks in the connections.

Good luck and I cannot wait to read about your testing. Make sure you take pics!

I also have the same vacuum.

I don't know what the lift is but I increased the suction power by replacing the stock vacuum with one from Griot's Garage.

Made a big difference. I also cut the nozzel attachments to make it easier to use.

Hello, I just found this site, and I`ll be reading up for my upcoming spring detailing.
I just bought a Porter/Cable 7424 unit and foam pads, and as soon as it`s warm enough to be outside for any period, I plan to practice on an old hood I`ve had leaning up in the garage for just this purpose.:Dancing Dot:

Yes, it`s an HHR S/S, 2008. I`ve had it for three years and it`s time for a buffing treatment to remove the many scratches from washing and wiping.
I`ve used liquid ice for the past two years, after Meguires, no white residue.
How do I like it, I love the power that the Turbo puts out, I hate that it`s only clean for about five minutes after a wash.

Welcome to Truth In Detailing SS Blackbeauty, that's the love of detailing keeping ones ride looking great 24/7.

I had an HHR (non-SS) that I rolled 3.5 times on the express way.

There is no doubt the car saved my life. Please enjoy it with better luck than I had, but rest assured that it is well built.

Forum member Auto Conciegre's wife has a gorgeous silver HHR SS, it's really stunning. Do you have any mod's done to yours?

Lastly, being from Chicago, I have to ask the most important question.... Cubs or Sox?

Welcome to Truth In Detailing SS Blackbeauty. This really is a great place to learn from, so read a lot and ask a lot of questions. We are all here to help.

SS Blackbeauty,Those have the same engines as the Cobalt SS, right? They can definitely be pretty quick! Once you hang around here and read enough you'll start to figure out what's good to use and what's not. There are also plenty of helpful guides on the PAC website!

Todd, yeesh! That looks like you had one hell of a ride, glad you made it out alright.

I`m more of a football fan, but I live on the southside, and I actually went to a Sox game last season, so I`ll have to say Sox.
I`ve done a few mods, but if you`re not familiar with the HHR, you probably wouldn`t notice them, I really just like to keep it nice and shiney.
The most prominent mod would be the hood scoop.
