Hi Guys,



I will start out by saying that I am a novice to detailing. I have a small collection of cars including a Black Murcielago, Black Quattroporte, a Black CLS and a light Grey A8. Un/Fortunately, Black is a common theme in my choice of cars and it has given me a real headache, but at the same time got me interested in detailing (my new hobby, me thinks!). The Murcielago went in to have a rear bumper painted and while it was in the bodyshop, I thought it would be a good idea to have the car polished by them...big mistake...The car looked pretty good when it came back, but after a while, as the polish came off, I found that the car was covered in holograms. So rather than risk having the car go back there, I found a detailer to correct the flaws. Hopefully I should have the car back tomorrow. I will let you know how it went. However, this episode prompted me to research this a little more, and I must say that I am getting really hooked on the whole detailing thing.

The Quattroporte came from a main dealer and looked stunning when it arrived. It had a comprehensive Swissvax history. The same thing as the Murcielago. After about six months, I noticed that the car was covered in holograms...I want to tackle this one myself...

Although I am making some headway, I am hoping to draw on your combined experience and get some advice on the best products to use for these cars.

Welcome from across the pond. Detailing is not some secret art or magic - it's really quite easy with the new products we have now. Try reading posts on Megs new MF pads. It doesn't take a huge investment, just a good buffer like a PCXP or Griots, MF pads and UNO polish. You can spend as much as you care to on the LSP (wax/sealant) - but if I were you, I'd wait till the new 3D Nitro comes out. Check out Dave Fermani's Porshe detail.

No problem. The Murcielago is due back tomorrow, so I will take some pics and post them up, along with some of the other cars.



Now, this question has probably been asked a million times:



1. What is the best polish/sealer/wax combination giving the 'wettest' look on a black show car. As I do not drive the Murciealgo often, longevity is not my main consideration



2. Same as above, but for a daily use vehicle, so the wax needs to last!



I am about to buy a dual action polisher and I currently Poorboys Blackhole and Collinite 476s
