Hello guys (and gals), I've been a lurker for a couple of days now and finally decided to join your ranks, although after about 5 minutes I was sure that I would be a member anyway...
I'm quite a regular on another forum but it is slightly lacking as far as detailing goes, it's a bit more of a modding, dirty forum, where most guys care more about performance and utility rather than appearance.
That's where I'm hoping you guys come in. :bow
I've got a 2003 white Z71 Tahoe, mostly stock. My wife has a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that is the charcoal grey color. Neither of which has any major damage other than a few swirl marks, and the occasional scratch. I'm not looking to get into extreme paint correction with the scratches yet, but mostly to protect and restore some of the swirls.
I've been cleaning cars since I was a kid, but I am by no means a "detailer." I've never tried anything more than OTC gear, but that's quickly going to change (UPS and FedEx arrived today with goodies).
Porter Cable 7424XP
Hook and Loop backing plate
Meguiar's pads (W7006, W8006, W9006)
105 & 205 compound
(I also have a fair bit of the essentials that any guy acquires along the way. Microfiber towels, soaps, clay bars, detailing spray, Sprayway glass cleaner and the like)
To start me off getting the paint back in top shape.
I apologize for the length. I didn't mean to get that out of hand.
Time for a beer.
