Hello cool air :)

Brandt -
Glad to see you have new portable A/C from your Dad in the garage.. :)

You will really see your temps stabilize at a lower number if you just take the time to Insulate every square inch of the garage including the ceiling..
Every time I have done this, along with a really good Insulated Garage Door/s, l experienced almost the same temps in the garage as in the house..

And if it needs to be drywalled, then take the time to do that and the 3/4" fireblock drywall will also add another layer of insulation to keep the temps inside the garage where you want them to be..

And another bonus is that this insulated garage will now help your House temps out on that side, because your garage is now not putting heat/cold up against your Interior walls on that side of the house..

If it is not new or even if it is a new/newer house, additional Insulation blown over the Entire attic area (especially the garage) will help keep the temps stabilized at a nicer level inside the entire house..

I just had the entire ceiling done here and it made a big difference all the way through this little 1,700 sq ft house - every room has about the same temp., and my A/C turns on a lot less...

There are Insulation people that just do that job and possibly, the County, State, or Energy Provider for you may have Rebates for making your house more energy efficient.. They have those Rebates around here in California since the late 60`s when I got stationed out here...

And if it`s not Drywalled and you do that(after Insulating all the walls) and just tape it up and don`t even finish it all, if you paint those walls and ceiling a bright white with some good lighting above, it will be like daylight in your garage all the time - even during the day with the door/s down...

Put one or 2 of these in the garage while that AC is kicking and enjoy that high powered cold breeze. It helps the unit cool the room faster. I got 2 of these in my house to help circulate the air coming out of the window unit and they do a great job in keeping the rest of the rooms cool. I also use them in the garage when i`m doing a job and they are a blessing even in the hot humid heat, i`d imagine they`d be a dream in your garage.

Yes ! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I have 4 of those in the garage for the work..

They can be instrumental in helping products dry faster too, and of course, inside the vehicle, turned up or down, they absolutely speed up the drying of accidental "oops, too much water on that spot", etc... :)

It is so great that they can be daisy-chained together since they have plugs on them besides the power cord...

still lacked motivation to clean out garage mess i made moving things to install ac. So turned it off and said, maybe tomorrow, lol

Keep in mind this is on the opposite end of the garage that the ac unit is on

I honestly don`t care if it doubles my electric bill. It would be worth it to me to work in a more comfortable environment. I plan to keep my house open as well to ease the workload of the LG unit.

It has a timer function so if I need to, I can set it to come on a few hours before I get home but then I will just lose all that cold air when I open the garage

once I get a few more jobs in, I plan to spend some money on proper insulation because I have a spot where you can see sunlight come through and that`s definitely not efficient.

I turned it completely off before I left today and from 5am to 8am it already climbed up to 81 from the 75 it was at one lowest setting

I completely agree with you! I don`t give a rat`s ass about the bill, I want it comfortable to work. As Mike Lambert said, the products work better in cooler temps...but guess what? So does the operator!! I put mine in almost 10 years ago now. I set it to 64 and when it runs overnight, my temp in the morning (at the farthest point away) is usually around 68 to 70. I find that it also does a good job of venting the cigar smoke too. I would replace mine the same day if something happened to it!

Dangit Richy now you got me wanting a cigar to smoke today. And its only 6am here ,lol

Yes, it absolutely is! It`s a little worse for wear as my mother in law tried to open the garage door one time with it hooked up and it did a face plant, so one button on the front is broken in two, but it still works. I clean the filters every year and that`s about it. I`ll be using it starting on Friday night on a black, swirled up Charger...supposed to hit 97 here on Friday!

It`s 7 am here and I want one too, LOL!!

I have at least 5 mopars coming into my garage before August 20th & this unit was installed Just in time

I`m super excited to detail in a cooler garage.

AC in the garage is nice.
Yes. Now i have to save up to get it better insulated

right now though, drastic improvement. Even if i dont do the extra insulation until the fall or winter, this is very nice, cool air in the garage

I have a friend with a sweet detached 30X60 garage that has a 2 ton mini split. It does well but struggled to circulate. I just installed 2 24" commercial oscillating fans on the walls, 1 on each side....WOW! It is a joy to work in there now. It is well insulated with the white painted plywood walls and ceiling. I wired it and talked him into using the 2X4 troffer type fluorescents that sit recessed and they are perfect! That place is a detailers heaven.

That sounds awesome.
My garage needs a lot of work but I just bought the place 1 year ago this month. The ac was 1st step thanks to the free unit. I still need fans to circulate air as well.

Giving it the first trial run for waxing in the day. So far its not unbearable at all and temp is only at 83. Car created a lot of heat from post wash at high noon. Doh!

Wall mounted fans are the way to go imo, less cords to trip on, out of the way and not blowing dirt, dust, your mf around etc.. Insulation and caulk will help out a ton for sure. At least like you say, the humidity is controlled, that`s huge!

I just hand applied a liquid wax to the hood roof and above the crease on the sides of my challenger and didn`t even come close to breaking a sweat.

Very nice. Temp shows 85 but feels cooler especially when im on the drivers side by the ac unit.
