Heaviest cut with PC

hammondc

Damned pollen!!!
What is the heaviest cutting product you would use with a PC? My mom has a white Toyota Avalon with a LOT of really old water marks (they dont feel etched in). Have tried SSR 2.5 to no avail. Would Megs #2 Fine Cut Cleaner be too heavy? How heavy is DACP in comparison to Fine Cut #2)

I was looking at that . A lot more product than I need though. Twice as much as the Megs. I used to use megs Fine Cut years ago, but then it was for use by 'machine only'. Now it is by 'Rotary Buffer' only. I am just worried that the formula has changed and that I will damage something.

Have you tried SSR 3? I've seen that take out some nasty scratches and swirls. You should try it out. Whatever you use should be followed with something because that heavy of a cut will leave a good bit of hazing. What pad are you using?

#2 Fine cut is more abrasive than DACP plus it is designed for rotary use. My experience with the product tells me that it won't break down properly with the PC.

Thanks all. I have been using at Green Edge pad. Planning on ordering yellow with the sale @ PAC. Any other suggestions. The gerneral consensus is that Megs Fine cut won't work. Maybe I'll try SSR3. Is it that much more abrasive than 2.5?

Yes it is. Once, (Purely for experimental purposes, mind you) I went through clearcoat, basecoat and into primer, by hand, trying to get a scratch out.
(was a *little* deeper than I had hoped it was. :( But the scratch "disappeared"! :D )

Where is Menzerna PG in abrasiveness compared to SSR3. A bit of each would be cool. I could do side by side then.

Now what do you follow up with after that. haha.

The yellow Edge pad should make a big difference with the 2.5 . Are you positive these are water spots and clear coat cracking ?

I am now scared to try my ssr3.

I have had good success with an orange LC pad and 1z UPP. That cuts pretty heavily, but not uncontrollably so ( hope that makes sense ).

Just be careful. I've seen PG level paint past the clearcoat using a PC. It can be done! Personally, I'd try a few passes with something like menzerna intensive polish or SSR2.5 with a cutting pad before breaking out a heavy leveler.

I can sell you some ssr 3 - much more potent than ssr2.5

I used ssr3 on white paint with excellent result. Don't be afraid of it.
