I know it's hitting Florida too!

Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas.... on and on.....

Highs between 96 and 100 all week, humidity in the 80's/90's, Heat indices from 100* to 115*!!

Am I the guy who likes it HOT?!!!!!:out:

Yeah, I do.

Is it hitting you too?

Start your details early..............:)

It's around 97 here and the Humidity is hanging around 94 too.:( Heatwave warnings posted here also.

Mad dogs & Englishmen: I drove my SL with the top down today despite the heat warnings. I'm just so sick of all the rain we've had, I drove it out of spite! Thank goodness for covered parking. Now I just need to map out a shady way home.

I probably would not survive in Florida. :(

I'm in the middle of a detail right now.... TAKIN' A BREAK in the A/C!!!

Car is washed and interior is done. Time to polish and seal.

I just put on my 3rd shirt. The other two are drying out on the deck. I couldn't believe how heavy those t-shirts were after a couple hours of sweat!!!

MAN IT'S HOT!!!

OK... back to it.;)

Weather Check

Yup...Middle of June and its 64 and overcast/raining again here in Boston. You guys have the other extreme going on but this sucks too!

Just finished my detail. It's 1:00 pm.... should have started at midnight and worked until 6 am!!!

It's now 99* and 113 heat index.:out::out::out:

I'll post some pics in the show/shine section, after I recover from my near heat stroke....

We're at 94, with a relatively low humidity of 37% (97 Heat Index). However, we're supposed to be at 101 tomorrow with 53% humidity. I started work on my car last night at 7 PM and it was 100 in my garage.

Speaking of which...can anyone answer this? If a car has been out of the sun and not driven (no engine heat, etc), but is still warm to the touch due to high temps; is it still okay to work with polishes/sealants? Most, if not all, products explicitly say to use on paint that is cool to the touch.

I always try to apply sealants in the garage or in the shade, after the paint surface has had a chance to cool for a while.

I think the point of most manufacturers recommendations is that they don't want sealants applied on "hot" paint. I've applied on "warm" paint with no problems.

I did make the mistake one time of using a QD spray on a BLACK hood in direct sunlight... I'll be the temp on that hood was 150 degrees!!!!!

Big Mistake... HUGE!

Last night, I let my car cool down for about an hour before starting to wash. Washing didn't pose a problem, as the cool water cooled down the paint. However, when I began claying, I noticed that the residual engine heat had reheated the paint and was drying the clay lube/detail spray fairly quickly. It made kind of a mess, but the IPA bath helped remove any residue.

Hey Luster, we don't call that a heatwave down here. We just call it summertime. :D

We'll hit 100 (actual temp) today and predicting 101 for tomorrow. My feelings are anything over 99 is hot, and there aren't too many distinctions after that.

I'm with you Mr. Clean. Where are you in this beautiful state?

I had a mobile detail today. Got there at 7:45a after an hour drive. I had 3 fans with me that kept the garage reasonable. Pulled the car out at noon for a after polishing wash, thank god the client has a nice tree that shades the driveway to keep me and the black porsche I was working on cool. Done at 2:30p.....Like Bill said start early.

I think it was only about 88? when I was done.

Tomorrow I have a beater Jetta at the house. They are dropping it off this evening, so I will be washing at sunrise.

6:00 pm here.... 101.5 degrees!

It was a hot sucker today!

That's a hot one for sure!

The temperature on the bank sign said 101 today here too. My Honda only said it was 98. lol

I hope to get a used window air conditioner next week for my garage. It's a 18,000 BTU, 220V for only $50. I just have to make sure it fits in my window. Otherwise I'm debating cutting a hole in the garage wall. I hate working in the heat.

We had some thunderstorms last night and this morning... Cooled things off significantly. Only forecast to hit 92 today!!!! (I'm a little chilled by the thought!):D
