Didn't read all the replies but caught a glimpse of Greg's... I agree 100% about the insulation. I did a few details as well as random mechanical work in my garage last winter, and while the Kerosene 75k BTU heater warmed up the space in 5 minutes, heat would last roughly 10-15mins tops before I need to turn the heater back on.
So I spent $500, about 20 man hours during 2 weekends and insulated/drywalled the entire 22'x20' 2-car garage. Going inside it now, it is as Greg says... much much warmer than the outside without any heat on. If you plan on staying in the garage longer than this winter and especially if you plan on doing work in there more than 1-2 times/month, I'd definitely recommend insulating it, then worrying about heating options.
