Headlight Clear Coat

Hello everyone. I've been snooping around for a while but just got registered today. I own a headlight restoration business in KY. I was wondering what you guys use as far a headlight clearcoat.

I have been experimenting with liquid laminate with UV protection. It works well but its a pain to thin it and get it at the right consistency.

What are you guys using for a UV headlight clearcoat? I really want to be able to offer my customers a 2 year warranty, and I obviously can't do that with a the restoration alone because the haze will come back within months.

Thanks,

Jacob

Two coats of PPG DB3000 (4 parts clear, 1 part hardener, 10% reducer) works very well.

I don't believe a wipe on clear, wax, or sealant will be as durable as true automotive clearcoat. The factory didn't wipe on a clear or apply a wax or sealant, so why should a restorer?

If you want to warranty your work, spraying a true automotive clear is the only way to go.

I don't think the factory sprays automotive clear on the polycarbonate either. I believe the UV protectant is extruded together with the plastic, perhaps on the outer surface.

That's if I interpreted correctly both what I read and what I remember when I was reading tons of scientific materials re: polycarbonates. I'm no scientist. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn. :)
