HD Uno vs Menz SIP

I've read a lot about HD Uno, but not really comparisons in terms of cutting power, etc.

Can anybody compare to Menzerna SIP?

What are people seeing as the advantages of HD Uno compared to other long lasting polishes (eg, Optimum Hyper Compound)?

Thanks for all info.

ps. 7424, 01 boxster, MF pads (likely, tho i could be convinced otherwise), some deep scratches, likely will finish with 85rd no matter what i use initially.

the main advantage to uno is the same product can be used with a cutting pad then switch to a polishing pad then finally use it with your finishing pad. the cut is effected by the pads cutting ability. basically one product instead of 3 or 4.

my understanding is uno works well with the mf pads.

It has been awhile since I used SIP, but the reason is because UNO is a much better polish imo. Cuts way better, no dusting and doesn't hide.

Agreed with Thomas, I was a big Menzerna fan in the past, but UNO is much better. If you need more cutting power, you should wet sand!

Is UNO compatible with the latest single-stage paints?

3D's website only mentions clearcoat paint.

Ugh, I was hoping to pick up Uno after Autopia's posting giveaway(for free!:)), but I may not be able to hold out much longer.

by then you'll need a second bottle. wonder if they still have the uno/poxy 32 oz deal.

If they still do, I can't find it. The link on the homepage is broken.

Just noticed that it's no longer there. I guess since HD Nitro deal is now up for free shipping they took that deal down. At least the HD Uno in gallon size is not unreasonable at $49.99 price point.

We dont have the sale anymore unfortunately. The only way you can get that deal is if you order a HD Pad Combo(3 pads and backing plate). It is hidden in there. There is an option to add an Uno and Poxy at 1/2 price.

wait, wwhat? I thought menzerna were th ebest polish in the world lol. I need to try uno then.. by reading the description it really look like an optimum polish..

i was under the impression that it was pad dependent.

i was under the impression that mf cutting and finishing pads were of equal cutting strength (based on an old post by Thomas, I think).

I understand the concept of Uno on a cutting/polishing/finishing succession of foam pads. Not sure how microfiber would work?

I'm also not clear on why, well let me put it bluntly, aside from some early problems with v1 and v2, I have never heard anything negative about Uno. It cuts better than SIP and finishes better than .... What makes this product so much better than all the other polishes out there???? Its a non-diminishing abrasive like M105/M205 ... what else?

Our formula is unlike any other polish on the market. It uses a proprietary blend of abrasives, solvents, etc. As far as I know, no polish in the industry uses the same ingredients. The characteristics of Uno is unique to our products.

When we say pad depended, it does not mean you have to use a specific pad. Any pad can be used. We recommend pads we know it works great with. The type of pad used will determine how aggressive HD Uno is.

UNO uses non-deminishing abrasives and cuts better/quicker than SIP. Especially with the MF pads. I suggest during your finishing step to try doing a test spot comparison against 85rd to see how them compare for the application. Depending on what product you end up using to seal in your work, you might not need to do a IA wipedown or rewash after polishing. For example, if you finish with UNO, you can go right to POXY or Nitro Seal without anything in-between. Menzerna polishes usually require special cleaning of the surface prior to sealing.

I am wondering why the test spot with 85rd suggestion ... you think it may be unnecessary or ... worse???

I was thinking uno on an MF finishing pad might be too abrasive for what I (am not sure but am led to believe) is really soft paint (black) on 01 boxsters?

I have to confess ... I'm pretty skeptical ... Uno does sound a little too good to be true ... but in the absence of naysayers I can't come up with a reason not to try it. So I figure I'll give UNO a shot, but because I am in Edmonton (canada) gotta get my pre-winter done QUICK (ugh ... winters fast approaching here ... so fast I am taking shipping times into account) and thus need to order whatever I *might* need ... plus I'd seen a few guys who were finishing UNO off with 85rd to 'jewel' routinely. I guess that means I am wondering about a foam pad (blue? black?) and the 85rd ... just in case? Does that seem sensible?
