HD Speed on `15 Chevy Traverse

Recent Speed chatter reminded me of this rental I did a little over a year ago. Guy took it out on the "trails" and got some scratches on the side. Being a rental, the guy didn`t want to return it in that condition. The Chevy was taken to a touchless wash. Cleaned most of the car, but not the scratches. Then, the guy took it to a swirl-o-matic (the drive-thru with spinners). That helped some, but some of the deeper scratches remained.

I tried HD Speed on a white polish (Hex Logic) pad, but it wasn`t doing much for getting rid of the damage. Switched to an orange cut pad, and this did the trick.

I do have at least 3 AIOs to choose from, and when I want that extra cut, I tend to reach for Speed.

Washed 2x prior to arrival

Decon with clay pad on PC

HD Speed on Orange HexLogic, on a PC7424

Light exterior polish only. (yeah, it was taken into the garage at 10pm...I was done with it just 2 hours later, and it was due back first thing in the morning!)

edit: Closer to 3 hours. My apologies. I went off the time stamp of the last pic. I went back to check, and that last pic still showed the final quarter panel needed to be done. I must have stopped taking pics there. So closer to 3 hours (or whatever amount of time to do one panel)

The color of the Chevy makes it hard to see the scratches under certain lighting conditions. But, in the right light, they stick out like sore thumbs.

New vacation strategy:

"Sorry honey, you`re gonna have to leave the 10th and 11th pairs of shoes st home this trip. Need the luggage space for the DA and HD Speed cuz we`re gonna be offroading that rental car."

very nice and impressive for 2 hrs. How many passes(ran the pad over paint, instead of vertical and horizontal counting as 1 pass) with the Speed?

Thank you sir

so I`m not the only guy that deals with that? good! I`ve got my woman down to a fraction of what she used to take!!
Almost like 1 pair of shoes for each hour of the day...boggles the mind.

I was shocked myself. But part of it was a clean car to begin with. Very little contamination, and I only did the sides. Also, no masking!

I`m not sure I follow on the passes. But let me see if i can make it so that I can understand: For a section of about half a door, I did a cross-hatch pattern, using the same pad, without lifting, 3-4 times. Buffed off the residue and went to the next section. On the deeper scratches, I went over the area again, in smaller, more focused "sections" using a 4" Orange HexLogic.

edit: closer to 3 hours. updating the OP

Think the rental car company was a little suspicious when the car came back looking that nice? I would have been...
