HD products on a Corvette?

Any special tips for using UNO on a c6 Corvette? I think Ive read on corvetteforums before that polishing on fiberglass is a little different. Just want to make sure.

I'm not sure how that rumor got started. When you're talking about gelcoat over fiberglas, that's true, but not so much standard paint.



The only thing that really makes a difference with the paint GM puts on the Vette is the type of flex additive they use to prevent spider web cracks.



Vette paint from 2004 on responds very well to wet sanding with 3000 grit and re-polishing. With the amount of orange peel you guys have to put up with on the lower side panels, this is a good thing.



With the PCXP and HD UNO, crank the machine up to 5, and work in 3-4 pea size drops at a time over a 2' by 2' area.
 
I used hd uno on this and had no problems at all! It came out nice. Hd uno is a nice product!

Truthfully David I haven't had a chance to really work HD Uno Like I want to!!!!! On this car. I used the pc7424 and the HD UNO tangerine pad. I had no problems at all. I can't remember how long exactly I spent on the nose itself to be honest but I can tell you It corrected out real nice in a timely matter. I had no problems on any part of the car at all. The one thing I came across is though I noticed you recomend 3 to 4 small pea sizes. I found that was actually to much. Obviously depending on how big your pea's are to mine!<---- LOL that didn't sound good. I used 2 small peas at 12 and 6 and had no problems. I also prime my pad a little different. I use just water for priming so that can change things a little also.

I do the same... a good misting with water or even your 50/50 IPA is best for pad priming.



I keep my dabs of polish pretty small. I have taken to smearing them on the pad with my finger rather than smearing the pad on the car to distribute. This seems to work better for me.

Yeah no problem. Just prepare yourself though, when my Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic paint is shined up, its mesmerizing. :shocked :chuckle:
