HD Free Concentrate/HD Free Pro Questions

The Rainmaker
Since the dilution ratios differ, the HD Free Concentrate and the HD Free Pro Concentrate must be two different products.

Or are they?

There seems to be some areas of the dilution recommendations that I am not understanding.

From the HD Web-site:

"HD Free Waterless Car Wash Lotion Concentrate Mixing Instructions.

One 2 oz. bottle of HD FREE Concentrate makes 24 fluid ounces of ready-to-use spray.

Directions:

Empty the complete contents of one bottle of HD FREE Lotion Concentrate into an empty 24 oz. HD FREE spray bottle. If some lotion remains in the bottle, fill 50% with water, recap, shake and empty the contents into the spray bottle.

Next, fill the bottle to 1 inch below the top with pure water. If your water source is hard, use distilled or filtered water for best results."

**********

"HD Free Professional Waterless Car Wash Concentrate Mixing Instructions.

HD FREE Concentrate is a heavy cream that requires proper mixing. Shake Mixed Solution Well Before Each Use. Each stroke of the pump dispenses 1 ounce of concentrate. For use by hand with a high volume trigger sprayer, dispense 3 pumps of HD FREE Concentrate in a clean 32 ounce spray bottle, fill with water, and shake well. For use by pressurized or electric sprayer, dispense 6 pumps into a clean 1-gallon jug, fill with water, and shake well."

Bear with me a little longer.

For a 24 oz. bottle, 2 oz. of HD Free Concentrate makes 24 oz. of finished product.

For a 32 oz. bottle, 3 oz. of HD Free Pro Concentrate makes 32 oz. of finished product.

A little difference, but not all that much.

Then I read that for a 1 gallon jug, 6 oz. of HD Free Pro Concentrate makes 128 oz. of finished product.

That's where I got lost.

2 oz. HDF, 22 oz. water - 11:1

3 oz. HDF Pro, 29 oz. water - About 10:1 (9.66:1)

Pretty close. Probably closer than most of us will measure. :)

6 oz. HDF Pro, 122 oz. water - About 20:1 (20.33:1)

Now that isn't close at all.

Is that a misprint in the mixing instructions or am I totally missing something?

Hi Charles,

They are the same product. The difference has to do with how people use the product. Watching consumers, 3D learned that most people hold the bottle too close to the vehicle when they spray and don't distribute the cleaner evenly before wiping. As a result, a higher concentration of cleaner and lubricant is required. Professionals, on the other hand, work just the opposite; standing back and letting it rip! In the end, the same amount of product in solution is used.

The professional dilution ratio is based on a professional sprayer and application method.

Thank you, David.

Would a sprayer such as this apply sufficient product to utilize the higher dilution ratio?

I realize that the amount applied is dependent on the user, but these sprayers are capable of delivering a lot of product in a well distributed spray.

I presently use this type of sprayer with PB's S&W and Meguiar's APC with good results.

A little over a week ago, I sent a question to the HD folks about HD Free Concentrate.

Since I haven't heard anything back from them, I thought I would try here.

What is the recommended shelf life for the HD Free wash solution after the concentrate has been mixed with water?

It should last 2 years if stored out of the sun and in moderate temperature.

When HD Free Pro will be available? It works so good that I want to get the concentrate.

How long is the shelf life of the concentrate? Not mixed with water, just the concentrate in its container.

An Update of sorts.

The web-site seems to be constantly changing and has a lot of errors on it.

I have no idea what information is correct, but as of right now the prices listed are:

HD TOUCH PRO REFILL

Item#: HD-TOUCH-GAL

$30.00

HD FREE PRO

Item#: HD-FREECON-PRO 64 oz. with pump.

$24.95

For how long, who knows?

Thanks! I also looked at HD Touch - Quality HD Car Care & Protective Finish | 3DProducts.com

- Your Price: $29.99 Item Number: 421G01 for 1 gal (128 oz).

Obviously the concentrate is the better deal.

Is the 30% off sale still on for the Pro products (considering the Pro line was out of stock)? I can't find the place where to enter the coupon code.

Coupon Codes are entered at checkout time on the bottom part of the Payment options page. If you need help, you can call us or send us a PM.
