It is water based and will last about the same as other water based dressings in the rain. If you want something to last when wet, silicone/solvent based is the way to go...

I purchased the product as well.  I haven't used it yet.  Curious about how it holds up in the rain.  That's kind of the ultimate test for me.

 it will last as long as any other water-based dressing IME, and when you wash the car after the rain you'll want to re-apply like you would any other dressing anyway. i'm low on opti-bond and was going to re-order some more (nothing wrong with OB this is an alternative) but after trying HD Dress i'm going to stick with this instead. a little goes along way and 2-3 sprays will dress a tire and one bottle will last a long time....

 been using this for a while now and it's pretty replaced opti-bond which i have used quite frequently over the years. it's nice you can control the amount of shine from a low matte gloss to a high shine and it doesn't sling. one bottle last a long time and i still have more than half a bottle left. kudos to HD for making excellent products! any new products in the works?
