Hey guys sorry for the late arrival of this review, last week been crazy buying a house and flying to England for xmas. Anyway here's what i found.
For my review I compared M105 v HD Cut. The pads used were NEW pads for each section, Surbuf and Megs Micro
4 passes for each product/pad section with the same amount of pressure. The paint was a beaten up vw passat in black. Tools for this review were G110 and Flex.
Before shots of the condition of the paint
I then sectioned of the doors, one side for surbuf and other for Microfiber pad.
This was after M105 and surbuf
section before the HD cut
and after
and a 50/50
So after looking at the results from both products, my first impressions of HD Cut were great, lets go into more detail.
Cut: HD Cut ( 4.5) M105 (4.5)
I thought both products cut through all the defects and i was thinking multiple passes would be necessary. You can actually see that there is some deeper scratches still left on the M105 side, I believe they stopped just short of the HD Cut and I did not try but i would think i would of needed to sand those out or multiple passes.
Removal from surface HD Cut ( 4) M105 (4)
I did find that the HD cut was harder to remove than the M105 with the surbuf but after reading reviews from others, a little spritz of QD did the job, imo removing any compound after surbuf is usually harder anyway.
Dusting HD Cut (4.5) M105 ( 3.5)
We all know M105 dusts like crazy, HD cut defiantly won this category, it did have some dusting but nothing like M105
Ease of Use HD Cut (4.5) M105 (4)
I still think i could still be working the HD cut a week later, your able to do multiple passes with HD and doesnt become hard to work, M105 has a short work time which can sometimes make it difficult.
Finish after use HD Cut (4) M105 (4.5)
my take of this goes against what everybody else found, maybe with some more time playing with the product i would get a different end result. The pics speak for themselves, M105 finished a whole lot better than HD Cut with the Surbuf pad.
Price: I wouldnt have a problem paying for the HD cut. its not anything more crazy than any other compound i use. For what you get with this product i would certainly buy more.
Smell: Is there a smell? lol
.
Labeling: I like HD labeling, black bottle, kool writing, i give it the thumbs up.
overall i was very happy with HD Cut. I will certainly use this product again. The biggest thing that i like is very little dusting and still has great cut. HD knocked this one out the park.
Next i moved onto the other door and did the same test with the Microfiber pad, again new pads for each product.
This is after M105
and this is after HD Cut
There was still some deep RIDS on the M105 but everything else was removed. On the HD Cut there was a few left, I would say M105 slightly more cut with the microfiber pad.
Again i believe the finish was better with M105
HD cut to the left M105 to the right
Im sure this product will do very well, I will buy more when the sample runs out. Thanks HD for giving me the opportunity to test this product. I already bought some HD polish off Barry, so i went over the door with HD polish on the microfiber pad and the polish took all marring out and left the finish perfect (apart from few deeper RIDS) HD polish works great. I also tried it on the surbuf side, that was too bigger leap and would need something in the middle.
Thanks again
David
