There was a group of wart hogs stationed at Bradley Field in CT. Knew a few of the pilots, how they trained, and their mentality.

Good group of people, that cared about what they were doing.

The scream of those engines when they get low to come in for support is unreal, and I'm sure that it is one of the most welcome or fearful sounds depending on which side you're on.
 
The scariest things to me were helicopters. It's amazing how quiet they are until they get on top of you. And at night you think you can hide and then they hit you with giant flood lights, you feel like you are standing in the sun. I also hated flying in the damn things. When the rotor stops spinning they just fall. There are an amazing amount of unreported training deaths due to malfunction. The Army pilots are crazy too, they love to scare their passengers. Just thinking about it gets my heart thumping
