having trouble reaching my goals, pissing me off now!

The hood of the bmw looks as wet and glossy as I have ever seen.

Great work!

If you are a fast learner, do go for the rotary. Otherwise the flex 3401 or the Festool da will give you a lot more correction.

II've come to the conclusion that foam cutting pads on a rotary are a joke.

Yep :xyxthumbs I doubt that I'll *ever* use orange/yellow foam on a rotary again.

Heh heh, every now and then I really *can* be succinct :D :o

so what pads do you recommend for my rotary. i just sold ALL of my stuff to a local guy. so basically i am starting fresh with a rotary and going with menzerna products and black ice. pads are my main concern now.

Lake Country Purple Foamed Wool.

You will thank me later.....just like I thanked SuperBee. :)

It takes 4" pads to truly exploit the PC's corrective ability.

It takes a rotary to do serious correction in a timely manner on hard paint.

If I were starting from scratch with a rotary system, I'd go with the Edge setup and a variety of wool pads (plus foam for the final passes). And I'd keep the PC to use on holograms and for other gentle work (with those 4" pads ;) ).

Product? Eh...people do great work with Meg's, Optimum, Hi-TEmp, Menzerna, 1Z, 3M, you name it. All have their individual characteristics and it's hard to say what *you* will like best.

+1

+ many more.

Also as mentioned above the edge wool kits are good for beginner, wool cuts fast and cool. The finishing wool is said to be great ( I don't have it yet) as it is safer for a rotary newbie.

The PFW needs a traditional BP vs edge pads use an adapter. I really like the PFW. Great cutting abilty and finish.

By rotary I usually do use foam pads (LC 6.5") but nothing more aggresive than white polishing. I also use black/blue fiishing pads. They *can* create more heat than wool, foam also will grab the edge of a body panel (burn) or an emblem/trim (takes it off) so they are less safe than wool. I do not use cutting pads very much with a rotary, as I hate them. They grab and skip and get really hot :angry.

After you get the hang of the rotary you may want to get some foam finishing pads.

For polishes I use OP/OC/OHC and 3M UF the most. They take longer but stay wet forever. Easy to use stuff. There is much faster stuff out there, though:hmph:
