Have I Been Lucky...?

...or just good? I just noticed my Porter Cable Rotary which only has one speed, runs at 2000 RPM. Yikes. I've been using the thing for probably 12 years and only burnt paint with it once. I had a cheap wool pad on it with Megs Fine cut Cleaner, and burnt the bottom edge of the door on my 1997 Aspire in one spot about 6 years ago. Now after noticing this, I'm really apprehensive about using it on someone elses vehicle. Anyone else ever use their rotary at this speed?:nutkick

I to have never gone that fast with my rotary. I use mine somewhere between 1000 and 1500. Always prefering to use the slow side of that comparison. 2000 is faster than I would go.

Luck had nothing to do with it. Apparently you used good judgement all but one time. *He that is without rotary burn, cast the first stone.* I would think that there would not be many stones thrown....if the truth be told.

I've had mine up to 3000 rpm. Was messing around with a hood i had. I don't go over 1800 on a customers car.

Depends on what I'am working on, but I have used my rotary at 2000 rpm and higher a lot and only burnt a few edges on sh#t cars.If you using it at 2000 rpm just move it around faster thats all.
