Hatachi SP18V in Canada

I just bought the Hatachi SP18V from BossTools.com for $223.61 including shipping. I then added the 7.5" Rotary pad kit (4 pads of your choice with backing plate) from eShine.ca to complete the package. To say that I'm excited to get started, would be huge understatement.

How does this stack up against the other popular rotary, like makita? I'm also looking to purchase a rotary soon.

Mr.Dan it stacks up very well as it is the rotary of choice for a lot of people on this forum. It is a little lighter as well at 6.2 lb. Do a search on rotary's as there is a lot of info on this.

Which rotary is best is very much dependant on the person, some people like more weight, some like less. The Hitachi is widely considered a very good machine.

Have fun with it, I can't wait to see your results. :)

The Hitachi is more expensive in Canada than the Makita or Dewalt 849. It retails for over $400cdn at power tool shops. I got mine at Coastaltool at the then still $99us.

Just placed an order for a Hitachi myself. :)

I'll be using the edge 2000 pads for it once it arrives. Looking forward to practicing on my friend's beater. ;)

If you are worried about quality, Hitachi makes great tools. The are on par with the commercial quality tools from Dewalt, Makita, Porter Cable, etc.

Got my Hitachi at Coastal tools also for $99. They have the best warranty also which is 2 years. I love this machine and compared to my old Vector which started me out and help tough for 3 years this is the best upgrade. When I shopped I looked at the power and low weight of the machine, combined with the price and mentioned warranty I felt like I could not lose.
