Has detailing made you a picky car buyer?

Newb to exterior care and I would say it actually opens up options knowing that you can bring a lot life back to paint and glass.

Now if it's brand new that's a whole different story.
That is what I was originally thinking. Buying new you have more options like color and wheels

Very true. Which sometimes can be a ton of work but if you have the time and patience is no big deal.

I've purposely purchased cars that were mechanically sound but needed extensive cosmetic work. In fact my work truck (01 Tahoe) was a retired Border Patrol truck. Its nickel and dimed me to death since I got it, but I've made a lot of money working out of it. My wife's car (black 2010 Elantra) was nearly totaled from hail damage. I got it cheap, paid my PDR guy (a close friend of mine) $150 and a 30 pack of Keystone Ice, and it couldn't have turned out more perfect. Spent another 15 hours correcting the paint and coating it, and now its the nicest Elantra on the road. I'm planning on buying a cargo van this summer, and I'm going to be a lot pickier with it than I have been in the past just because I don't feel like taking on any more unnessesary projects that don't pay anything lol.
