Has anyone used Yext Powerlistings?

Google would be crazy not to partner up with them... or buy them out and adapt the technology into their cloud product suite.

I agree. I anticipate a buy out.

Listening to the CEO in that video, I got the impression that's exactly what he's hoping for.

I can't blame him... its good stuff that they can use... sounds like big $$$$$$$

Did he say $500/ year? Are these free directory listings? That's way too expensive for this service, I'd rather do it myself by hand and save all that $. Two or three listings a day if you really have no time and you'll be done in a couple of weeks. Also how often you really need to update these listings to justify $500 every year, after these listings are all created?

All it does is update info in these directories, probably authorized by them so for every listing he pays a smaller share of the fee you paid to each directory to allow his program to access and edit info in their servers.

I doubt Google would partner with this guy for one simple reason: Google doesn't need him and his service. You'll still manually create and update a Google Places listing whether this guy goes big or disappears in a year or so.

I just wrote an article about Yext and powerlistings in general. Your comment about claiming 2 or 3 listings a day is right on! In fact, you took the words out of my mouth- almost word for word.

Cheers.

To many other's point, if you don't have time, this is beneficial to a degree. And that degree depends on how important web listings, backdoor links, and your overall importance to Google search results.

These are all great links to have and there are around 50 since I last spoke to a rep about 2 weeks ago. However, my contact at Google says that Google could ding you pretty bad for something like this. Mainly because you will have 50 new listing pop up within minutes of one another. Not bad for saving time, bad for looking like spam- and Google hates spam. Is it a definite, no, but is it probable, yes. I advise what to do what others here have suggested and what I have actually done. I used Yext's free search tool to gain access to all the site that they suggest carrying a listing on and fill them out yourself. Save yourself $500 since ALL of the listed sites are free listings. Just takes a bit of time. Your PC probably has a form auto-fill function. If so- enable it and save yourself some time there if your not a speed typer. I think tools like this are fantastic for getting positive backdoor links that Google knows and loves to have directing to your site- just do it the right way so there are not negative consequences to it.

Good luck!
