Has Anyone Used This Sealant?

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
I looked at this sealant some time back, because of all the rock chip in my black BMW hood...the reason was after the LSP all I could see was the buildup of product in the holes...I found another process that cured that...however this product stuck in my mind about a possible LSP to fill product into the holes with out being noticeable.

OK....not a Zaino fan but this one has my interest...anywho have hands on experience with this?

Z-CS Clear Seal: Zaino Store

I keep wanting to try this so I can apply a LSP that won't fill the little chips in my paint with white. I don't know about the 9 months of protection, but it maybe worth a try.

Charles just wrote me about this product....THANKS

Really the reason for wanting this product was nothing more than its clear application and that it would not leave any product deposits in the RC holes..I would be open to any clear LSP for that matter

Optimum Opti-Seal...he says that Troy has it

I was actually more impressed with Opti-Seal. My Z-CS was bought when it first came out so I'm not sure if it has been improved since then or not. I just think Opti-Seal looks better IMO. Another contender would be the UPGP, it looks pretty nice but I'm not sure about durability. It's supposed to be sold in 4 ounce bottles fairly soon, otherwise the cheapest way to get in the door is with the sample pack.

I have been doing research on the Ultima product and it sounds good...but its not cheap I may try the sampler first to make sure I like it.

Thanks NESS...I think that if I can get a small bottle of the OS and try that....lord knows I have plenty of stuff here that I have bits and pieces of!

It is interesting that you started a thread about this product. I did as mini detail of my truck using S&W and followed up with Z-CS this very day. I cannot speak about durability but it is certainly easy. I used twenty four pumps of the sprayer to do my truck, not counting the roof and tonneau cover which I did not do. Will post pictures on a another thread. It took ten minutes to apply and I was going slow. Initial look appears good.

Since we have gotten away from the original subject, I can throw in a couple of things about the Opti-Seal.

I haven't used the Z-CS or the Ultima, but the Opti-Seal seems to be a very good product.

It took me one application to learn how to apply it thin and that seems to be the secret to not having any streaking
The first application I made, I had some streaking, but was able to get rid of those streaks by going over the area again with the Opti-Seal. A QD might have done the job, but I didn't try it. I didn't want to add the QD to the mix of the Opti-Seal. I'm not one to experiment with mixing different products. I leave that to the chemists. :)
My later 3 applications went fine without the streaking problem. As is often the case, I think the streaking was an operator problem rather than a product problem.

The look is very nice. Not necessarily better than anything I have ever seen, but I don't think you will be disappointed.
One thing I did notice was how easily the dirt washed off the Opti-Seal treated paint. (The vehicles do still get dirty:))
The price is probably up for debate. The 8 oz. bottle wasn't really cheap, but the stuff goes a loooong way.
I have done my Montana twice, (once with too much), the Gran Prix once, and a 19' boat once.
The bottle is down possibly 1/2 inch after those 4 uses. It probably took some where around 1/2 to 3/4 of an oz. for all of them.
The actual cost per use seems to be very low, it's just the initial price for such a small bottle that made the stuff seem expensive.

And yes, Troy does have it.

Off Dave's original topic but -

I've done a lot of personal research on this (and similar) product, and while I would like to ask about the Zaino as well as the Ultima at a couple of other sites, I just can't get the nerve up due to the fact that it's a always a peeing contest/fan-boy rally when you bring the brand names up. I would really like to get into the whole wipe-on/walk-away arena, but it's hard to sort through all the rhetoric and mud to find any truly useful info. It would be nice to find an objective and honest review about any of them.... (that's a hint in case anyone wants to shoot me a PM)

For instance - Duragloss Aquawax is touted as a spray sealant, so why is it different than the others?

I have all 3 WOWA sealant's (Zaino Clear Seal / Optimum Opti Seal / Ultima PGP) and they all pretty much work as advertised. There may be a slight learning curve for some but using this type of sealant is as easy as it's gonna get IMO. And yes, you will not get any residue in cracks, chips etc. whatsoever. In fact, these will better fill pores it the paint then the average sealant.

As far as looks, to 'my' eyes there are differences to each - Z-CS which is glossy/wet | Opti-Seal which has a slightly wetter look and Ultima has a wet/slightly muted more carnauba look.

Protection wise they all do their job but as you specifically asked about the zaino product i will say that i think it is more durable than the Optimum product as far as longevity of it's initial qualities...shine, slickness, ease of cleanup etc. (Not saying Optimum is not durable at all - protection is definitely still there)

I have only recently tried the ultima product but i will say it's initial qualities to me seem better than either of the first 2 but quite a few reports from other forums.detailing and more general auto related state that those qualities drop off fairly quickly... i'll see about this myself soon enough.

Bottom line is any of these i believe will suit your needs just fine and for me are suitable enough to be a true wax/sealant replacement although for me i am tickled with another new sealant (not WOWA) for the moment on one of my vehicles.

Thank you very much for this, do you feel that anyone of them has some filling effects on the car...what I mean by that is filling in rock chips?

No filling effects with any of these. They all seem to flash off / evaporate as they cure rather than drying as a thick clear coating.

Quite possibly because the posters are trying to give helpful, unbiased information and are not concerned with what company made the product.

Charles

Amen! I'd like to thank those who have given me info on it via PM as well. Very helpful bunch of people we gots here. :bigups
