Has Anyone Used the Foamgun

to lay down a blanket of suds to use as a clay lube?I'm not trying to skip a step I'm trying to cut down on my time. I have 5 cars that I need/want to clay before I start winterizing them.:passout:

Well after reading all those who liked it I bought one and used it once and swore I would never use it again.

When I posted my results I was told that I was not using it right and so I tried it again using it as suggested.
I threw the P.O.S. on the shelf :wall

My suggestion is save the 50 bucks and either use QD or mix soap water and put it in a spray bottle.
Applying with a spray bottle would be easier than dealing with a hose and the foam gun.

I have to agree with Black Bart. A spray bottle of QD or a soap mixture is easier and faster than a foam gun. While I am not ready to say that the fifty bucks or so that I spent was wasted because I do like how it puts down a lot of lubrication for washing the paint and soaking wheel wells and tire rims.

Yes, right after I got it I tried that method and have abandoned it since. It uses too much soap for me and with my hose pressure coming from the spigot the foam path covers too large of an area (even if held up close). I went back to just a small mix of soap and water in a spray bottle and use less soap with more concentrated i.e. smaller work areas.

I do continue to use it for the overall car wash though and love it for that.

I really like my foam gun, my son thinks it's the best invention since sliced toast, he uses it to wash the garage floor as well as vehicles. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like to use soap for a lubricant. I used it back in the day of the more elastic clays with no problems. Today's clays seem to come apart pretty easy when used with soap.

I have a foam gun but have only used it a few times. I will likely trade it with someone for other stuff. It just seems to be hassle. I still had a soap bucket anyway and converting from foam to rinse just seems like an extra step and not a good sprayer at that without removing the foam nozzle.

I have yet to get any foam just a lot of soapy water.:wall

I used it twice and went through a half gallon of soap.

I will leave the foam guns to others all I need is a bucket and a ounce of soap. :bigups
