Has anyone used AIO as a car wash?

I read on autogeek that a capful of AIO could be used to wash your car.

Here's the info I found.

"â€Â¢ NEVER USE DISH DETERGENT for washing your car. Use a capful of this polish instead. Although you will not have a foamy cleaning solution, dirt will be lifted from your vehicleâ€â„¢s surface."

Has anyone done this? Please explain if you have.

Thanks,

Steve

I wouldnâ€â„¢t use AIO . . . seems like needless waste of a good product. On a first-time, new customer car, I prefer plain old auto soap. Depending on the dirt on debris, I may include vinegar or Simple Green. Like the previous caller noted, this may disturb your LSP.

On a side note, I donâ€â„¢t think that AIO would mix well with water . . . not fluid enough to be distributed evenly.

I'm not sure of it's origin Schnell-alternate: (Klasse Wash)

Wash vehicle, apply "All-in-One" to entire vehicle while itâ€â„¢s still wet using a damp 100% cotton towel, re-wash, rinse, and dry vehicle. Proceed with clay/polish/wax or sealant

I've heard of this, but have to think that it's a waste of AIO. Why wouldn't you just use the standard wash, then proceed to the AIO?

Whenever I have the Klasse twins on the car, I sometimes wash the car with regular car wash and add a half capful of AIO to the bucket. The bad: it kills the suds. The good: the car comes out sparkling, smooth, and clean. I usually apply QD sprays after a wash but I don't need to after washing this way. It's comparable in looks to using Sonus Acrylic Spritz. Don't use AIO in place of the car wash soap. I have done this about a dozen times but never when I have a carnauba on top. I've mentioned it before but I guess only a few do it. It's not a waste of AIO but I see it as another way of using this truly versatile product.

Perfectly said Beastie! If you use the Klasse as your sealant, etc. then I would definitely recommend it, otherwise your wasting your money.

AIO is both a cleaner and protectant. But if you don't care about the protectant aspect of AIO but you do want to take advantage of the cleaner than why not wipe on a damp car and wipe off with chamois or MF? Seams logical, especially if you are going to use a different LSP than SG. Now if you're using SG I would use AIO on a dry surface. As for putting it in a bucket, I don't know about that. I think the reason it's a good cleaner is because it must have strong solvents in it. If you dilute it I don't know if it would be as effective paint cleaner as AIO straight. You might get a visably clean car but AIO cleans paint at a microscopic non-visable level. IMO, I don't think you'll get this superior cleaning when it's that diluted.

I feel that the AIO would strip any sealant or wax on the car. I think it may work as the first step in a full detail maybe to prep the paint for clay or something. I just thought it was strange to see that in the product page of AIO on autogeek.

Let me chime in again since I've done this several times. The small amount of AIO added into the wash bucket is diluted enough that stripping of LSPs is not a concern. It is acting more like what Oxyclean does with laundry. It is used as an additive to the car wash soap to assist in cleaning the surface. How it does it even if it reduces suds, I don't know. Granted that I don't do this professionally, I still have a quarter of my original AIO container after 2 years. I just don't need a lot of AIO to do a nice job.

Hmmm . . . Could it be useful to use diluted AIO as a claying lubricant? Like say, mix half a capful into 20 oz spray bottle and then got to town w/ the bar? This would be after a regular wash w/ say NXT? :nixweiss

This is how I was taught by my Father to use it (before it had the name Schnell-alternate) when we arrived at a concourse we do a Klasse wash.
