has anyone tried......

Hate to say this, but a repaint is the only way I'd go in this situation Derrick. My 11-year-old daughter, whom I love dearly, decided to run her bike handlebars along my rear 1/4 panel and now I have a 3" long scratch there...but it's just a scratch with no dent, not a chip like yours. And my repair would have been $300 to repaint the entire panel. I decided that I'm the only one who really sees it, so it wasn't worth it to me. But IMHO, I'd definitely be looking to have the hood repainted. If you do decide to have it painted, don't take it to a "good ol' boy". Take it to a reputable body shop and if there are none in your area, go back to the dealer and have them do it. It should run you around the same price...$300 or so :(

Now what is this snow stuff again I keep hearing so much about?

Oh paint the hood or practice your paint repair techniques and then have it done by proffessionals.

Also if you are getting the hood painted why not practice with a rotary buffer to hone them skills first?????

One word Mud, Bayous, Swamps, and Marshes. Oh heck thats more than one.

Who says trucks are for northerners? Heck the south buys more trucks then the north. Ca, Tx & Fl are the number 1, 2 & 3 truck buying states!

I prefer to squish Nutrias and mosiquitos.

the blackbox specially made for black cars only??? (how did it come out???)
OR
ice??? (this seems nice since it doesnt dry white, goes on clear and in the heat and whatnot.)

I wouldn't use anything by TW. That is just my opinion of course. Once you start using the types of products that you can get here at PAC, you will never go back. Angelo is right. The Blackfire products rock:Dancing Dot:

what would be better to go through, here or autogeek.com? also another detailing forum but i get so confused on where to go.

I would go with the Blackfire. I used it for the first time today and it is truley awesome. It is only avalible through here.

I dunno bout you guys , but I want professional products to use on my toys ,I am proud of them and have plenty of money invested in them , I dont want otc cheap crap bought at a hardware store applied to my paint....most of that crap is silicone based !
Back when we were kids, all we had was J-wax...Turtle...Simonize....we did what we could, I washed my car every day, unfortunately, the wrong way, whoda thunkit back then.....technology has evolved and in a high tech way...and it still is , with the new paints, it will change again....I like the professional products ,we work our ass off on our cars....I want prescription products not over the counter.....

What do you think is in the majority of the waxes on the market today besides carnauba.. Especially the very high end waxes?

If you're getting more than a 3-4 weeks out of a carnauba wax product, then it's not the carnauba doing the protecting.. It's the silicone/polymer in the product that's still around. Especially in the hot summer.

Fwiw. Todd mentioned in a post a while back, that one brand in particular was so loaded with polymers that it made most sealants jealous. The amount of solid polymers in the wax made the advertised number of carnauba a 100% impossibility.

Todd went onto say. What is sold as one of the world's most expensive natural carnauba waxes is really nothing more then a silicone heavy sealant with a several thousand dollar price tag.

I would say (JMO) that many of the so called (perceived) cheap arse waxes on the market are closer to the "high end products" in ingredients than any of us realize.

I looked at the link , they have watched their business shrink over time because of Zaino and Black Fire products which are both stellar. The detailer is getting smarter and researching alot more. :)

This is absolutely correct to the the 100th percent. What we see in detailing is a lot of suggestive marketing, magic potions, fancy containers, etc.. It doesn't take away from the fact that these products perform amazingly well, but I think we are better served judging a product by what it does, not what the manufacturer tells us. (My opinion). If you use a sealant that costs 30 dollars and it looks awesome and lasts for 5-6 months, why use a wax that lasts 4-5 weeks that you think might look better from some angles, that is hard to apply and remove, and costs as much as a computer....

I am not knocking high end waxes or their users by any stretch, if you have the money and prefer the wax, then more power to you! They are all very good products (as are most detailing products today.)

This is because there is only so much you can do to a car wax. VOC's limit how much wax can be used in the container (by limiting the solvents used to mix the wax and make it useable) and the amount of wax isn't really irrelevent anyways. It is a great performing product and IMO alone (kinda the whole truth in detailing thing) I think it should be sold on it's merits.

I think waxes sold at the OTC level are designed for the average consumer. They have to be able to clean the paint to ensure they will bond to the surface (since most guys going into a store don't have a compound, a pre wax cleaner, etc) and thus compromises are made to better serve the prospective client. It doesn't matter how go the wax performs if it cannot bond to the surface.

Ya know the products that have been on the shelf at Pac and keep disappearing due to sales, and at brand x supplier that charges tons for shipping, these products have been tried and tested again and again....they sell for a reason, their dam good :).....hype , yeah ! trying to make joe detailer or joe wannabee think there is a new box that will blow everything else off the planet...:White Horse:
