Hard Paint

I keep hearing about some cars having very hard paint - to the extenet that the PC is pretty much useless. My question is this - if the paint is so hard and the PC won't remove swirls, then how come the swirls get there in the first palce?

I guess this just goes to show you how safe and mild the PC actually is.

I, personally, have never encountered a paint hard enough to be unfixable (to some extent) with the PC. From what I've been reading, Audi has one of the hardest clearcoats out there and it does take a little more work but it's still definitely fixable with the PC.

Got me, all I know is I've spent hours upon hours with a PC and increasingly a Cyclo to attain success, sometimes not 100%. That sure qualifies as hard paint to me. Anything deep and obviously visible would surely require a rotary. Other paints you can take a polish by hand and remove a scratch visible under "normal" light. I assume manufacturer and/or age determines the hardness of paint
