Happy Birthday tthomp82

New to the board. Just picked up my new car (911 Targa) and NEED to know the basics of getting a great shine in a country (London, UK) with ALOT of rain.

I've been given a basic Zymol kit, is this the way to go?

And what about inside? I hate swirls!

Any help would be really appreciated! Have a look at the car at:

With all that rain I would really go for a sealent, it's too nice to get water spot on............ if the water can catch it ;-)

This is what I would SUGGEST you to use...

Clay the car

3M Swirl Mark Remover for any light swirls etc..

Either Klasse, Zaino or BlackFire

This will clean the surface, prep the surface and protect the surface for months to come.

The Zymol is great, don't get me wrong but with all that rain and the dirt that will be spit up onto your car in the rain you would likely want something a little more durable....

Oh yea, apply one coat of Klasse All In One and two coats of Klasse Glaze to yours rim.

When you need to clean them you can just use a wet rag and the dirt will come off without scrubbing and all sorts of cleaner sprays.

Guys

Thanks to you all for the advice. One last thing (please excuse my ignorance) but what is clay?

And yes, this is my daily car, and a joy!

Welcome to the forum and sweet ride.

Clay is a product designed to remove overspray and industrial fallout or conatminates. It is rubbed on the paint with a lubricant.

For a more information go to the carport page and look under details details details. Also the e-book has a lengthy article on clay and how it works and how to use it.

Again Welcome!

3M clay can be ordered from most motor factors (product code 38070) costs about 20GBP.

In the UK we dont have easy access to a lot of the products that are available in the USA.

Klasse can be exported to the UK, Zaino is the same but can also be purchased from Germany. P21S can be bought in the UK, as can Blitz wax, not forgetting the Autoglym stuff.

Get a load of MF towels and some foam pads and your set to go.

BTW, nice looking car :)

If you are looking for good products try:

www.properautocare.com- good place for Klasse and other items
www.topoftheline.com - neat stuff
www.griotsgarage.com
www.autodetail.com - I get their <span class='bbc_underline'>clay magic claybar. A good product for a little price.

I lived in London with all that daliy acid rain, so i recomend getting a car cover if it is going to be parked outside, but i'm sure you have one or a garage. Other than that do what the others have said and you will have a nice long shine.

I am just as late with my thanks for the birthday wishes.
I like to say that my birthday is the easiest one to remember but also the easiest for forget.
I do still check in here when I get a change... work has been crazy busy.
