To the young guys out there, Cigars, booze, electronics, software, etc are all very "guy" things to be sure. But groomsman's gifts are generally lasting, physical objects, meant to symbolize a permanent bond of camaraderie.
Imagine something that your buddy will pick up and hold in his hand in 50 years, smile and remember the good times you had (and maybe continue to have). Maybe something that you all will have on your person or in your pockets when you're attending the weddings of your grandchildren.
I've seen Best Man gifts that were different from the others but I think they should always be in the same theme. (Like the Best Man getting the pearl handled Walther PPK while the ushers get Rosewood grips. )
I think the LED flashlight is a good concept. Something in a precision metal case, engraved of course. Check out Gerber's LED products.
A classic Zippo, engraved again, is always cool. Even us guys who don't smoke agree, "fire, goooooood."
