groomsmen gift ideas

All of the stuff that I am looking at are either pretty useless or alcohol/tobacoo related. So I'm stumped as to what to get my groomsmen/two best friends. Any ideas?

Requirements:

- not alcohol or tobacco related

- somewhat compact, easy to pack in luggage

- no watches or swiss army knives (previous gifts)

- $50-$80

Both of them like watching baseball, playing golf, Bob Dylan...that's all I can think of right now. Oh, they're not into cars or detailing really.

money clip - I carry mine all the time. Can get a metal one engraved, or I have a leather covered one from Coach.

autographed baseball - maybe pricey depending on who ya want

personalized golf balls and/or towels (don't golfers carry towels?) - just something that came to mind since you mentioned golf.. would probably want to include them with something else

LED micro-light. If they put it on their keychain they'll be glad they have it one day ;) Sort of thing that *everybody* can find useful. There are scads of different ones in all price ranges.

I was the best man at my buddy's wedding. He got us all sterling silver Tiffany money clips with our initials engraved on it.

Don't know how much they were. :nixweiss

Very nice and classy though :xyxthumbs

I'm not a golfer, but I am sure you can definately find something nice related to the game. Nice set of balls, or tees or golf club covers?

I'm missing how alcohol and tobacco wouldn't work in this situation... ;) :p

This is alcohol, but maybe a nice bottle of wine or something. The kind Wal-mart doesnt sell. A box full of cigars is nice and tasteful too. :o

Are they into music? How 'bout credit on a site like Napster or iTunes?

Maybe some commerative ball team/golfing clothing or accessories.

heh, heh, I got that for my Dad for Father's day. $25 at Brookstone. He's a real gadget guy. The year prior was a cross cut paper shredder.

He LOVES functional gifts :p

That mini light is way cool. Very bright, very useful and the battery lasts a life time.

Hehe, they are pretty cool. I got a bundle of em and gave em away to all my family members this past Christmas, just tossed em around as we were eating appetizers and stuff.. $20 for 20 of em! http://countycomm.com/super Tough LED.htm

Also got myself a small single LED flashlight that takes a single AA battery. They don't seem to carry the one I got any more, but have a couple other cool ones.

And speaking of money clips, that place also sells titanium clips that look kinda cool - http://www.countycomm.com/cpfmoneyclip.htm (that link saves $10 off their regular price)

Lots of other cool stuff on that site as well. Maybe not groomsmen gift idea type gifts, but cool stuff nonetheless.

Visit Ben Silver online and browse their blazer buttons. If their alma maters are listed, go with that.

Barring that, I like the Tiffany money clips or cuff links with monograms.

Been there, done that, but monogrammed Mont Blanc pens are nice and are functional.

I bought all my guys Tumi leather wallets. Very nice, and they all are still using them. Atleast the ones who did not loose theirs.:o

Check out this section of Hartmann's site. They make very nice accessories. Just as quality as their luggage. I have a billfold from them (belting leather) and it's amazing. It has acquired the look of a bomber jacket over time because of wear. Soft as a baby's hind-end and good looking. Can't beat it. They have several other accessories in your price range as well (most on that page I posted).

Check 'em out, I think you'll like it.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! :xyxthumbs Right now the wallet idea seems like the best option. Knowing my friends, the would probably lose and/or never use cufflinks or a money clip :p

I got all of my groomsmen something different - my little brother (11 at the time) got a nice Soccer ball clock with his name engraved on a silver plaque on the front. My best man got a sterling silver pen with his name engraved on it. For the other two guys; one got a nice beer mug - engraved (I know you said nothing alcohol related...), and the other got a uh, I don't remember...

Have you looked at Things Remembered? They have some pretty neat stuff, and it isn't too expensive.
