I tried to search here but could not get any info. What do you guys think of the Griot's Garage buffer? Is it the same as the PC and just renamed? Are the pads from Griot's compatible with the PC?

not the same as a PC

I think it has a fixed plate so you are stuk whith one size pad only

if you are in the maket for a polisher you should check out the UDM

Griots used to sell the PC as their orbital. I bought mine from them with the pads and polishes. I went to a tech session they had and tried the new red one. It was a little smoother than my PC, but, did not seem to have as much power. I decided to stick with my PC.

I do like the pads. I have not tried any others yet. I plan to on the near future to compare.

In general, Griots stuff is very mild and "safe" for your paint. I think it is a good beginners system.

joe from supershine did a side by side test (a while back) with the griots orbital vs. the PC, and he liked the PC better (you can trust his opinion). if i was in the market for a DA, i would buy the UDM...

I have the Griot's polishing DVD and the Griot's orbital did not appear to have much "oomph" to it. It actually bogged down a couple of times in the video.

I recently contacted them about it. They list watts and not amps, Their reply was that it is a 6 amp unit. It comes with a 180 day satisfaction guarantee and lifetime warranty against defects. Their words not mine.

Griots will back their products without a doubt. I had a sit-on creeper that the shaft rusted on. After 3 years, they took it back and gave me a brand new one. I have had a few other minor issues and they have always stepped up to the plate. Customer satisfaction is a priority to them. Give 'em a try. You won't be disappointed.

However, as I said above. The PC seemed to have a more power to me.
