just picked up a griot's 3 inch polisher (thanks ray!) now i need some guidance on which pads and what this thing is capable of. mostly picked it up for restoring headlights and had a question about its finishing abilities.

is this machine not strong enough to polish out the headlight after its sanded? would the 3inch MF pads be good enough to cut? my other polisher is a PC

ive been eyeballing these products for the griots 3inch, am i heading in the right path?

Meguiars Unigrit 3 Inch Foam Interface Pad

MIRKA Abralon 3 inch Assorted Sanding Discs - 10 per box

3" Yellow Scrubbing Pad, Set of 3 - Griot's Garage

has anyone tried this yellow scrub pad for interior carpet cleaning?

Meguiars DA Microfiber Cutting Discs, 3 inches

would the machine be powerful enough to make these cut?

any help or advice would be appreciated

I use it for sanding headlights and applying wax most of the time. Try applying a wax to the entire car only using a red 3 inch Lake Country Red Flat Pad, it's nice because you don't have to stop since the 3 inch pad fits on most of the vehicle.

would the griots be to weak for correcting the headlight after sanding?

I am pretty sure it would burn up trying to correct a headlight after sanding...
It looks too small, the motor is too small to give you the torque, speed, and rotation you need to bring a plastic headlight back to clarity..
In all the years I have been on Detailing websites, I cannot think of 1 time anyone ever said they corrected headlights with that little polisher..
Good luck..

thanks!

Their v1.0 electric is pretty feeble (I'm on my second one, first died from gently using KAIO with a mild pad and zero pressure) but I hear the v2.0 is better (no first-hand experience with it though). Their 3" *pneumatic* is good, that's what I use for spot-correction (Christmas gift, otherwise I'd've gotten myself a little Rupes).

Watch out for sling! The combo of size, speed, and throw somehow makes it a real sling-machine IME (OK, "user error!" but I don't have that problem with anything else including the 3" pneumatic).

ihaveacamaro had a good thread on polishing headlights with the griot's 3"
