Great Detail Tips?

Just One More Coat
I was thinking over the weekend that a tip thread could be useful..What I mean is what tricks have you learned that have made the job easier, better or faster.

This can be a good thread with everyone's input.

1) I use an eye glass cleaner towel for cleaning the LCD screen in my car....I have not found one thing that has kept it cleaner and smudge free like.

2) Foam paint brushes are great for appling and spreading out conditioners in the dash around tight spots like radio and heater controls.

Its your turn what have you got?

cut the metal threaded end off your garden hose and put one of the plastic ones on...Saves possible nick in paint when you are rinsing with the "flooding" method

Check and doublecheck the bottle you pick up when you are applying product, lest you may accidently apply something that you really, really didn't want to apply (like, AIO when you're on layer #3 of EX. Ugh. It's happened to me too many times).

The Best And Least Expensive White Wall Cleaner I Have Found Is "coment". It Cleans White Letters, White Walls, Removes Tire Grime, And Cleans Rims Well When Diluted In Bucket Water. I Sprinkle Some On My Tire Brush, Dip The Brush In Bucket Water Then Start Scrubing. In A Few Seconds Your Tires Are Like New.

Scrubbing Bubbles and Magic Eraser on whitewalls...non aggressive to the dyes and will not harm wheels.

Foam water pipe insulation around hose end.

Bike brush...lots of flexability.

2oz mist bottles for spray sealants

After cleaning the inside of cars I start on the outside when rinsing the windows this is the time when I can tell if the windows are looking clean from the outside.

Also a good way to check for smears is to get the car in the direct sun before parking up.

spray wax for final proccess after polishing waxing etc to remove dust etc.

When using the cyclo you can place a microfibre towell on painted surface then place the cyclo on top fire it up then use for final buff ( eats cloths a little)

spray a little bit of air fresh under or onto mats if customers smell clean the dont look any furher ladies love it.

Fuzz you are not the only one smooth with the ladies chicks love it :

Regards.

Dry vacuum the interior of the car before washing or polishing the exterior. That way any dirt/dust kicked up by the vacuum is washed off the paint before it gets rubbed in/scratches the finish.

This one isn't mine but a great tip
When cleaning the windows do the outside in one direction (say up & down) and the inside in the other (left to right), this way you can see which side has any streaks or smears.

Clean Wheelwells with a good APC & wheel brush, rinse, then spray throroughly with AA Tire Foam.

Wipe down with a terry towel and they will have a nice black satin finish.

Helps repel dirt and road crud too..... :D

P.S. ... ... If your wheel openings are too small to work in there, just raise your car 4 inches or so with a floor jack..... (and don't forget to use that safety latch!).....

does any one know how to get rid of those water spots on windows that have seemed to have baked in no matter how much u wash or clean them?

I've used 4 methods....

1. 0000 or 00000 Steel Wool
2. White Vinegar
3. One Grand Special Touch (non abrasive, works great on etched water spots)
4. One Grand Glass Polish

.

Look for janitorial supply places in your area...They have allot of APC cleaners and degreasers by the gallon at reasonable prices...They also have high quality very durable brushes, in all sorts of sizes and shapes, at good prices. I got a high quality toilet brush with a wooden handle that I use for rims and wells for $2.95

MAKE-UP BRUSHES !!!!!
One of the best interior detailing tools .... Very soft and nice, yet stiff enough to get down into cracks and vents.

Now fellas, don't steal them from your wife !!!!

You can find them sometimes at Dollar General, Big Lots, Deals and Wal-Mart.......

Check these out... 8 bucks from Avon.com .....and they come in a nice little bag.

Great tip. I was kind of doing that, but hadn't thought it through. Just angle realities, now it can work for me.

The best tip I received on here was the Oxiclean use on carpets.

Put scented Bounce sheets aka.(static guard/fabric softener sheets) under the seats for air fresheners. Don't last very long...maybe 2 weeks....but they are cheap and always available. Plus they are not visable and help absorb a little moisture. Try it...works good.

Luster has a great idea with the make-up brushes for all those tight spaces.

I carry a box of Q-TIPS for ac vents, delicate instrument panels, seat tracks.
