GRAND FINALE -Optimum Opti-Coating - Durability Test Review!!!

Impressive, I remember a few years ago someone was selling a product that claimed to have 1 or 2 year durability-I think it was called Superbead.

I've been waiting for this update. Thanks for taking the time to put this together David. It really looks like an amazing product.

Looks like an amazing product, thanks for the test David! Any word on when/if this will be available to the public?

Newbie here, nice write up.

Why the need for the alcohol wipe down after the wash with Dawn and Optimum Power Clean?

Also, it looks like it put all the orange peel back on the car that you sanded off, based on the dried application you did on the back window. Is this the case?

Thanks you guys for the nice comments. Yes, this product is amazing(no hype needed) to say the least!! Not quite sure when it will be officially released and it most likely won't be distributed to enthusiasts (just insured Pros). Talk to Dr. G for specifics.

Even though Dr. G suggests only needing to do alcohol wipe down, I wanted to make sure the paint was 100% totally clean and bare.

Definately no OP was added, even though this product actually adds film thickness. The round spot on the back glass is from me pressing my moist applicator pad onto the glass. It's basically a super extra heavy portion that was left unwiped. 1/2 the car is coated with a much thinner layer of this.

Astonishing product! And that's after a weekly Dawn wash. Thanks for the update David.

That is what Anthony Orosco has been saying for a long time. Try 3 years in his test. :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Dang.... this is starting to make me mad we've had our tube for months and still haven't used it. Looks like we'll be applying it soon!

Nice stuff David......and people called me a shill, thanks for vindicating me:2thumbs: :LOLOL

In reality what this test does is basically crams maybe a year or more of daily car life into 6 months. I had my doubts myself when I read David would wash it with dawn and at tunnel washes but very happy to see it holding up so well.

Now wait until you all get a load of the interior portion!

Anthony

Totally wowed by this product. Thanks for taking the time to this test Dave.

But I just feel so sad realizing that this won't be available to enthusiast detailers like many here.

One can hope though :)

Thanks for the update. I don't think I'm alone by saying the results are so dramatic with this products they are almost unbelievable - but I believe them.

This product is amazing. Great test.

One question, why did you wet sand at the beginning? Who wetsands a brand new car? Doesn't that throw off your results since you have removed probably 10 microns of clearcoat? Just wondering what the rationale was there.

He explained that in the first paragraph...

"the paint on the factory hood would be sanded flat to test the product’s UV ability."
