whats up everyone..

i got my PC 7424 in the mail today. it came with two pads. a thick white pad and a orange pad

wich one is wich? everything that i read is saying that the orange pad is more abrasive than the white pad but feeling the two it seems that the white pad is harder?

anyone have any info?

A quick search will get you more information but in short yes the orange pad, a light cut is more agressive the white, a polishing pad. Don't rely on just initial pad hardness as your determinant. Use the search function and you'll get infomation for days.

ive done alot of searching already thats how i knew the orange pad "should" be more agressive. its just wierd that the white pad is harder. i found a thread on here that talked about the new CCS pads are harder then they used to be. maybe this is the case with the pads i have.

the orange pad i have is a lake country flat pad and the thick white pad i have came in the box with the PC when i bought it. i was more/less looking for info on the white pad that comes with the PC when you buy it new..

Its no good, i would get 1 more orange, 2 lc whites and 2 lc blacks and use those with your polishes. What polishes do you have?

I don't know about the orange pad, but that white pad isn't supposed to be used on paint. You'll probably need to get a backing plate and some pads of your choice. Neither of those is likely to be usable on paint.

i already have a backing plate...plan is to buy pads so i know exactly what im using.

most pads that are permanently attached to backing plate(like the white pad you got with your PC) are junk. get rid of it and buy new pads.

no, both the pads i have are velco backed and i have a velcro backing plate. my pads arent permanently attached to anything

grab some lake country orange, white, blue pads, as well as the purple foam wool pads...if you are doing heavily oxidized cars, then get a few lc yellow pads and go to town, then clean it up with orange...

The pad hardness is not as important as the foam structure in determining cut.

I have some old school Propel pads where the green one, which is a 'polishing' pad is a lot softer than the black finishing pad which is nice and firm.

got ahold of the place I bought the PC from. The orange pad is from griots and the white pad is a support pad for bonnets.

well when i got my PC there was the "stock" white pad from Porter Cable which is the one i was refering to.
