Well, i now have my first set of MF towels adn am wondering the best way to wash them. Can i just throw them in with the laundry or must they be seperated on their own ? Hot or cold water ?

thanks

Microfibre must be kept seperate, or they will pick up lint from all the other laundry.

Most can be cleaned in warm or cold, but check with manufacturer to be sure.

Some use regular laundry detergent, some use cleaner specifically marketed for microfibre but more expensive. Most stay away from powders and only use liquid detergents.

Also, no bleach or fabric softener.

Use search feature, this topic has been discussed a million times.

Hi 93zder,

You want to wash your micro fiber towels separately from other fabrics such as cotton which can attract lint on to your micro fiber towels in the wash water. So you can either put them in the washer or hand wash them. And some type of liquid detergent with warm water. Do not add any fabric softener in the rinse. And no bleach. As for drying, you can put them in the dryer at low heat or airfluff setting but do not use any dryer sheets. Or you could also line dry them. What I like to do is put my micro fiber towels in the dryer and take them out right before they are completely dry and just line dry until they are completely dry.

Ditto what Ranney said, also a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle seems to act as a very good rinse aid.

Good luck! :)

Im with them..

I just started putting a cup of vinegar in my rinse cycle and i personally have found it to drastically add plushness to my towels. Ive washed the towels a few times before without vinegar and they have never been too plush (well my work towels that is) and I decided to use vinegar and they are 2times more plush than when I bought them.

Thanks all. I am probably going to hand wash them in warm water and definitely try the vinegar too ! In my mind, they can never be too plush !!

Is it safe to assume that softened water will not harm the towels ?

:)

Depending on how many towels you have I wouldnt hand wash...too much time.

Just throw them in a washer with liquid detergent on cold/warm water. When it hits the rinse cycle throw the vinegar in.

Sometimes (depending on how dirty they were) I may run another rinse cycle.

Then put them in the dryer on low heat.

Come out looking brand new!

I really hate it when I do a detail, and only have 6-7 towels that I use, leaving not enough to throw in the washing machine. I've never tried handwashing just those 6, any suggestions on handwashing MF (how much water, how much DER WUNDER WASCHE, how much vinegar)???

Thanks!

I only have a few towels too, and would like to hand wash as well if it was possible.

I couldnt even begin to tell you how to handwash it..hehe!!

You should pick up some more towels. You can get some nice ones at a low cost. Here are two low cost towels that I can think of..

Excel Detail Entry Towel or even their Supreme Towel is cheap.

Winners Circle Detailing green towel.

Buy some more towels...you will be thankful you did!!

You wouldn't happen to know the links would you ? :)

No, I have over 25 towels. I usually only use 6-7 and would like them washed....so that they just don't sit around! Yes, I know...I need more MF!!!!! Coming Spring 2005....

But seriously, any hand washing tips? Anyone?

hahah I know how you feel, but what I do is the ones I use I have a container i throw them in after im done. Then when i get extremely low on towels or am out I wash all together.

Also I would assume that you could fill up a sink of warm water and put some dawn in there. Then just try and wash them that way. As far as the vinegar i wouldnt know when or how to put it in there.

Then you could hang dry.

For even 6-7 towels handwashing is too much work. I usually only have that many to wash also and just do a small load in the washer cuz I'm lazy. Rinse twice with vinegar and comes out spotless. Even during the 2nd rinse you can still see some soap in the water so sometimes I do a 3rd.

I can vouch for the Excel supreme mfs, very nice for $2.49.

Okay. I'm just going to throw them in a bin and when I'm low do a big load. I tried the vinegar rinse on my wool mitts....worked nicely. I'll also have to try the exceldetail mfs. There seems to be so many mf brands that perform well (which is a good thing).

I just noticed that they said 'distilled' white vinegar in that write up - is this the same a just white vinegar ?

If you use a commercial brand laundry liquid, I think you should try and get as much a additive free product as possible. They usually say perfume free, etc. etc....

I am told SEARS has a very good "free of everything soap", but not easy for me to find. Isn't there a Tide Free or something close to that name you could try?

I just use a Micro Restore product and it has worked better then I thought it would. I don't need the vinegar rinse as much too.

SAM's has 12 and 16 packs of what seem to be very nice MF for $7+ to $10.50ish in yellow and light blue. Much better then the older yellows and white/blues they had. Made in China and the wife looked "funny at me" when I said that I need to get some. She already thinks I have way to many. It's a sickness you see. Her's, not mine.;) .

edit: I don't know how good the new Sam's MF are, yet, so they might not be "paint" quality. But they LOOK pretty fair. Do CD test etc.
