Just got my HF rotary for a cool $29.99, now i need to get some stuff to go with it. I will be ordering new pads soon and would like to get some to work w/ both the rotary and PC, are the propel's best? Also, which backing plate is the best for working as a beginner? Do i want to stick to 6.5" or 7.5" pads? Last, polishes, i need to order a couple chemicals to go with this thing, currently just have #83 that would work well i think. I am thinking Menzerna PG, P085, SSR2.5 etc?

thanks

5 flexible urethane backing plate , 6" or 6.5" recessed pads .

I wouldnt use po85 unless youre wetsanding to 2000/2500 grit . Unless of course you want to spend the money .

If you can afford the PO85RD go for it. It's a great finishing polish from what I hear. I'm not sure what the wet sanding is all about above. The Menzerna line of products are great via rotary, but the most universal polish is by far the Optimum polish.

The 4.75 inch BP can be found at Autogeek and the PC pads can be used on the rotary.

I say that because supposedly it is like a 3000 grit compound , so it doesn't seem that it would remove much . Only thing I've ever saw with my own two eyes remove heavy swirls is 3m PI-III compound and that's a rougher compound than the po85 .

It would be an excellent addition to the detailing arsenal of course though , but as expensive and fine as it is , I would only use it in my own car or when wetsanding after a rubbing compound for the finest finish .

hope to use it in just this sense eventually, at least in some areas. I imagine it will last me quite awhile as well.

I think i will pick up some optimum too, heard great things about it. Where is the best place to order from?

williams, it is typically $49.99 but was on sale for $29.99 until the 26th of this month. They will have another sale soon i am sure though. It is a good entry level learning machine, and for someone like me who wont use it very often as this is just a hobby, it should be fine.

How do you like the HF rotary? Can you compare it to, let's say the Makita? What is the wieght, the web site did not list it? :buffing:

Thanks!
