Great!!!! That looks like a really nice Rotary Bolton, I am sure you will love it. Here is a pic of my DeWalt 849. Welcome to the rotary club! :D

Welcome to the danger zone boys....

I never knew P.C made a rotary. I was going to get the Dewalt but it was a little to heavy for me. I ended up with the Makita.

BJ my Makita has the same handle and i switched it for one that looks like the dewalt handle. Easier to hold and move around.

If you want to feel the difference in power.

turn the pc on speed 6 and place your knuckles on it, no burning feeling.

Turn the rotary on speed 6, ouch.

Hey SRL!!

Nice case!!! I like it!!! :up

I notice that you popped the center plug out of the Meg backing plate; I assume so you could use the 3M pads??

Cheers Bud!!

Did it come with that case?? You know if they make cases for the PC? The random orbital that is....

Bolton: Someday I will try out a rotory.

SRL: Is your case made for AV equioment? How much does the case weigh?

What NYD said made me think of several jokes I heard recently. I needed a laugh.

Ok now that we are on the Rotary subject, I just got one too for my b-day (a PC 7428) just like bjwebster. I now have the same happy family. :D

I have only use a rotary before about a half dozen times so I am new at this and want to master this thing ASAP! I have been reading up alot on it here and I know just to practice is really the only way.

Just wondering on the pad selection and which polishes you guys use. I heard alot about the waffle pad. Some polishes I picked up are #2,#4, 3M Finesse-It 2, 3M Perfect Fine-Cut and Medium-Cut. Also have DACP my favorite with the PC 7336.

I have so far used mine to buff out a few scratches that I had. Worked great, the scratches are gone. I used those 4" pads, great idea. This macine is very powerful and scary at the same time. :scared

Now I want to use it to remove some swirls on the wifes Impala LS but alittle nervous. :shocked We bought it used and you can see it spent its life a the swirl wash.

I have an old style Porter Cable Rotory. It has the motor mounted on top. It works excellent but now looks archaic compared to that "Ferrari" you have! ;) I should post a pic of mine so you can have a good laugh. Have fun!:up

Eric,

Yes the case is made for AV equioment. Nice Catch. :) My family owns a commerical sound & electronics company, it was laying around so I took it. :D

As far as weight goes, it's tough to say. I would guess maybe 5 pounds empty.

:wavey

When is a DA Orbital not enough and the need for a rotary come in? They sound intense and fun at the same time. Obviously the rotary is for compounds/scratches and it has more power. Is there any thread like "The Definitive Rotary Thread?" Thanks.

Well I started off the morning trying out the new roatry on a 92 Honda Accord. The car was heavily oxidized, and swirled beyond recognition. I started off with the rotary at a little over 1000rpm's and was using menzerna intensive polish. It removed the oxidation after a few attempts and the car looked worlds better. I followed up the menzerna intensive polish with meguiars #9 because I was having trouble with the menzerna drying up too quickly. First try went off without a hitch, no burned paint or any major problems! I need to pick up some new pads and a few other thgs, but so far, I love my new rotary!
