Gorgeous requires your attention

So I went to the local Auto Expo this evening with some friends and saw some pretty sweet rides. We were just walking around and came upon the Jaguar display area and saw this interesting looking box structure that had been set up. You could tell there was a car in it and on the side of the box it said this..

Gorgeous requires my attention? Hmmmm... This I gotta see. I'm expecting some sort of prototype Jaguar that is too cool to let people get good pictures of but they will let you lean over the edge of this box and see it.

Gorgeous? I'll let you be the judge of that. Tell me if this is what you would put in a box that has a phrase that leads you to believe something impressive is contained inside.

Somehow I don't think that qualifies as gorgeous. :lmfao I went to the guy in charge of the display and asked him if he needed someone to clean it up. I've got some of the new Four Star sealant as well as some Wolfgang QD in my car and I could have this cleaned up in no time. He said he had someone who was going to take care of that for him. I reminded him that it has been in this condition all day and it really looks bad for Jaguar and his dealership, but whatever. If he wants everybody in the state to see a car like that sitting in a box then that is his deal. I could at least get the water spots off and the splashes on the bumper or something... As always pictures didn't capture how bad it really looked, but you can imagine from the pictures. It was pretty funny.

I mentioned that there was a car cover wadded up on the ground behind the car. He said it was the 'lid' for the box. I suggested he put the lid back on.

That poor Jag,.......blasphemy,............it hurts my eyes. Think of how incredible that car would look with some good detailing done to it,...mmmmm black.

Nasty. Usually those lovely showroom lights can hide a lot and bring out a fine finish, but two strikes out here.

One thing was right. It did require attention. The sad thing is that after they finished cleaning it up, it probably still looked pretty sad.

I liked your idea of puting the "cover" back on.

I'm suprised that the situation wasn't taken care of as soon as the car got there.
Im embarressed when my car looks like that on the street never the less at a show

Take a good look at some of the vehicles at car shows. You might be surprised at the condition of some of the paint.
A Corvette show I went to a year or so ago was a perfect example. A friend of mine had his black Vette there with the typical 5 coats of Zaino. It was a really shiny bunch of swirls and marring. I could hardly believe the condition of some of the cars there.
(And there were a few that I wish I could do so good.:))

This thing was pretty swirled up. Even if they QD'd it and cleaned off all the waterspots they still would have had swirls to deal with. Nothing quick was going to make that car look good.

This was a 'new car' show where all the auto dealerships in the valley were there to show off the new '06 models. If you are there to show off cars that you want people to buy, then I really think you should make sure they are clean. If you pull the cover off a car and realize there has been a mistake, then put the cover back on and fix the mistake. Don't display it for everybody to see. Everybody was talking about how dirty that car was. I was embarassed for the dealership. I'm going to send those pictures to them. lol

The person responsible for the show should be embarrassed. Send a note to Jag. Or, maybe that's the "attention" that it requires--a good detailing. Ad slogan gone wrong?

LOL!! I knew this would be on here ASAP. That was terrible. The Jaguar dealer simultaneously made himself, his dealership, and the Jaguar brand look bad. Way to go!!!!

Yup. I put it up right after I picked up Jennifer last night. I just sent them an email with this thread in it so they can see what they are displaying. Here is the email I sent through their online contact form:

I have to say that I was really disapointed in the Jaguar display at the Utah Auto Expo on Friday (1/13/06) evening. You had a Jaguar in a box that was a real attention getter. When I got to the box I was shocked to see the condition of the car inside. It was the dirtiest car in the whole building. Granted that I am a little obsessive about detailing, but this car was getting the attention of everybody. It looked like it had been washed and dried with a gritty bath towel and then water was allowed to dry on the car. There was mud splashed between the bumper and the body as well as a lot of water stains and mud drips below the trunk. The tires looked awful and the chrome wheels were filthy. This was by far one of the worst things I've ever seen at a car show.

I was so embarassed for your dealership and for Jaguar that night. This was not good press for your dealership at all. In fact, if I were in the market for a Jaguar from your dealership then I would insist that nobody there ever touch it. I wouldn't want my new Jag to be delivered in this condition. If that is what you think is acceptable to show as something 'Gorgeous' then I wouldn't want you ever touching my car. I really hope that something is done about that car as soon as possible. If you don't know the one I am talking about then perhaps the pictures on this website will clarify to you. http://www.detailcity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16069

I hope they realize that Detail City is well known in search engines and it is very possible that if someone were to search for Ken Garff Jaguar or something like that, then they would find this thread in a couple days after goggle crawls the site again. This is not a good advertisement for their dealership and I know people were very disappointed at the show.

Edit: Oh, and Ken Garff... If you are reading this then please check me out at OCDetails.com and let me know if you need any help getting cars in shape for shows like this. I guarantee that my work is far superior to whichever employee "detailed" that car prior to putting it in a very prominent place in your display area. If you need someone to come out today to clean it up or something, then just give me a call and I'll be on my way. No charge. Just let me save you some embarassment next time if this is the kind of quality that your detailers provide for you.

I got a reply from my email. I'm happy that it got some attention. The longer I thought about it the more I felt that I should probably forward this information to Jaguar's corporate offices. I'm satisfied that it will be dealt with now.

Thank you Anthony for your email...My name is Greg Gleeson, GM of Ken Garff Jaguar.

I picked up your email while on vacation in Cabo and have forwarded it to the people responsible for making sure the cars are clean.

They should get right on it...

Thank you again for sending the email. I really do appreciate it.

Regards,

Greg Gleeson

Sheesh, I thought it was a joke at first when I saw the pics :stick

Glad you got a positive response from them.
