Goodbye, Home Depot

i also agree that it truly depends store to store. i had a HORRIBLE experience with one HD, went down to another and had great service, better selection, more things in stock, well lit, clean, and very helpful staff.

due to management, it will surely be a different experience store to store whether lowes or HD

i'm personally a HD guy

p.s. bigal u still got that gift card??;)

one other thing i do not like about HD on top of it being dirty, is you have to watch where you park. today when i was there, i noticed a few nails (this isn't the only time there's been crap on the ground) on the ground and picked them up and threw them in the trash...

I visited our local Home Depot on Monday (Southwest Roanoke). It was clean and the staff was courteous and helpful--indeed, they were eager to please. One clerk took us half way around the store to find us the grout sponges we were looking for. I had no complaints whatsoever--quite the contrary.

wow, it must have been slow for them LOL. i was looking at a new leaf blower but they have skimmed down there selection (looked at the toro ultra blower but it doesn't look to be that well made compared to some others i looked at) and i decided to buy one at lowes and here she is...

When I first got out of college, I worked at Lowe's for a short time while I looked for a job. Our store manager constantly preached that he wanted the store clean enough that a lady in her business suit would feel comfortable coming in there to shop. When the receiving people brought freight out to the sales floor, and stocked the shelves, the store manager would only allow them to bring out 1 pallet at a time. That freight had to be worked immediately...a pallet was not allowed to sit and block an aisle.

Additionally, we had a guy that called himself "the yard dog". This guy hated people, so the store manager assigned him a forklift, a broom and dust pan, and a blower. This guy spent all day long zipping around the parking lot, and area behind the store, and storefront area cleaning up spills, trash, and other unsightly things.

I ended up working there 18 months, before landing an office job with another company. I made it (unfortunately) to management...biggest mistake of my life - I feel sorry for retail managers. The hours are horrible, and you are salaried. I did however accumulate some colorful stories involving shoplifters, fights between employees, employees sleeping with one another, customers pulling knives on employees (really), and other things. Good times.

whenever i go into lowes (i also bought a cable reel which was a dollar cheaper than HD), it's always clean and well lit and parking lots don't have garbage laying around just carts. for some reason... lowes reminds me of being the walmart of home improvement LOL...

Ya this is what happens when you make it to the big leagues an wipe out the competitors.walmart is doing the same thing an faster with sams club as their 2nd store.it sucks we the shoppers loose and big time once they lock the market you pay for the price they say or don't get it.
