Good "Driving" Car

I currently have an RX-8 and before that had a Miata. They are both exactly what you're looking for. They grip in the corners like crazy, and have plenty of power. But they aren't drag racers, so you have to do a lot of shifting to keep them in their power bands. THAT is where the fun is!

And they're both practical enough to drive as every day cars. Your choice just depends on if you want a convertible or not. :)

For outright fun and speed, my modified 3rd gen Rx-7 was awesome, but not reliable at all. Now then for fun and reliability, I just bought a new STI, and I must say I smile everytime I drive.

What ever car I am driving that day. I only purchase vehicles that I find some type of enjoyment while driving. Be it fast, thrifty, hauling or luxurious in class. :xyxthumbs

Since neither practicality nor a price cap was mentioned as criteria, I would have to give the nod to the newly-available (in the U.S.) Lotus Elise. Sport Compact Car said it handles brilliantly with a well-damped ride, not the bone-jarring one you'd expect. Plus, you get near-supercar levels of performance (sub-5 seconds to 60) while sipping gas like an econocar since it uses the Celica GT-S 1.8L. 4-wheeled motorcycle.

Another alternative I'd consider, mentioned earlier, is an MR-2 Spyder. Go-kart quick steering response due to the low polar-moment of inertia (like the Lotus), just pure fun for a relatively cheap price. Those of you who have driven one, you know what I mean.

NSX

great on highways, looks good, fast, handles great, built by honda so its reliable and you can get one for 20,000 (used that is).

95 BMW M3

voted best handling car at the time

practical, you can get it in 2 or 4 door, 23 MPG avg, 28 on the HW

I put 200k on mine with very little problems

their value has stabilized, should be able to sell it with very little loss

a nice hi mileage example can be had for 10 to 15k
