Well, it's time to order the 3M. I have minor scratches and swirls all over the car, so what 3M product works best? Do I need compound cream or any harsh abrasives? Also, I've heard something about using Meguiar's No. 16 after 3M products, has anyone tried this?

i'm actually curios as well, i have the stuff and did it by hand a couple weekends ago, but someone posted a video of someone from i think cma using the pc and i think he was using a wool pad on it? am i right? if you use the pc to apply it what type of pad is required or recommended?

For over a year now I've been using 3M Perfect II Machine Polish, 3M Fine-Cut rubbing compound and SMR on my 4 vehicles. On my last Groit's order, I took the plung and bought their 3 bottles of machine polish (1= med polish, 2=mild polish, & 3=fine). I also bought several of the polishing pads for my PC. To make a long story short, this stuff is fantastic. No matter what you use, don't skimp on the polishing pads, they do make a difference. Only use one pad for one compound, don't intermix compounds on pads.

Since my car is red, I used the 3M Swirl Mark Remover for Dark Colors, P/N 39009 and I followed that up with my Finish First polish. It worked fantastic and looked great.

I used my Porter Cable 7336 to do the hard work.

CMA has several grades of foam pads to use with the PC and that's what I would recommend. I would stay away from the wool pad. The PC is very easy to use, even for the beginner and does a great job.
