Glaze vs. Sealers

What specific products are you thinking about?

I'll defer to the experts, but the stuff I am familiar with is Poorboys EX-P and Klasse SG. Can't go wrong with either.

WEll the two things are quite different from each other. Glazes have fillers in them to make swirls and paint defects less noticable. Glazes tipically dont offer protection to the paint. Sealents offer protection for longer periods that wax tipically. Some people like to think of them as long lasting waxes. Sealents tend to offer a clearer look as a carnauba wax might offer a warm look. If your ordering you might want both. You can do it in this order.

Glaze
Sealent
(wax optional)

Some common glazes are: VM, BSG etc.

Common Sealents are: UPP, EX, EXP etc.

Sealants are more durable than glazes, so if that is a factor you are looking at then I would avoid the glazes. Glazes also have a greater tendency to attract dust. Also not a good thing if you are trying to avoid that. They both have their pros and cons, but it really does get pretty product specific. If you are trying to choose between brands then throw out some names. Otherwise it is hard to really say which is better. Its all subjective anyway... it depends on what you want the product to do.

If you're doing it on a special car that goes out once a week or less and you want the most "ooooo's" from onlookers when you show it off, use glazes.

If it's a car you're driving fairly regularly, go with sealants. They'll last 3-4 times longer.

I am going to order my first internet order soon and I was wondering if I should get a glaze or a sealer?

Concur with prior post - I would get both. Would also consider a clay kit. If you have never used clay - you will be shocked at what it lifts off of the paint.

We just bought my daughter a new car and purchased a menzerna kit, along with a blackfire clay kit (clay / lube). The results were amazing. Process was as follows:

1) Wash - Menzerna wash
2) Clay - Blackfire
3) Wash
4) Polish - Menzerna Final Polish II
5) Glaze - Menzerna Finishing Touch Glaze
6) Seal - Menzerna FMJ

All done by hand - the car looks absolutely stunning.
