Glass

I was thinking of writing an article on glass but was wondering if there is any call for this. It would cover polishing, glass breaks and like. Any interest in this? What format are the articles done in?

Glassman, Go for it!!! One purpose of the forum is to inform people of knowledge that they might not have. I know for myself that glass is an important issue. I always fear that a client will call me during the night saying that they have streaks in the glass. So far so good, but Im up for a technique that will be worry free.

Heck yea...we always need one single article to go to for each department of detailing. I know I would love to have it as a reference.

I would certainly love to see it. I've just ordered the Diamondite system to get the acid rain spots off my sunroof and can only hope this wasn't a mistake to buy. A little section on the special needs of this sunroof/moonroof glass would come in handy. I don't have these spots of any other part of the car.

I will get started inbetween building our house and working. I will say I have a system for polishing glass that does it WITHOUT DISTORTION. Not sure about the diamondite system but be easy with the heat buildup. Too much heat will cause glass to crack. Different heat ranges for all kinds of glass. Go slow at first.

I'm interested. I have some marring in my side windows as well as pitting on my windsheild. I know these are tough problems, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Excellent idea. A definitive glass care thread/article isn't out there...

A few items to think about:

-using newspaper to clean glass

-rain-x

-plexus on tint film

I'd love to hear any tips on polishing glass. I'm pretty obsessive in cleaning mine and protecting it. I've tried all the coatings that have been around as we need it in this area. Had good luck with Rain-X and waiting to try Aquapel as soon as it warms up. Give us your thoughts and techniques.

I'd be way up for reading something like this. I tried to polish my glass before winter with Duragloss NuGlass to remove some hard water spots ( I should have just broke out the AIO ), and it left all kinds of micro-marring that I now need to get out.

This would be a great help!:D

Thanks

Tim

Add another "yes!" for this topic. While cleaning the glass on my three vehicles this past week, I realize how much a PITA glass is. It is my LEAST favorite step... I always leave smears I can't see until the next day. RRgg!

Thanks for the generous offer Glassman. :bigups

In addition to caring for glass, if you can also include some technical info about glass, differences, properties, reactions, examples, etc, that would be priceless.

You know how hungry we are for knowledge.

After all, you'll have heaps of spare time...you're only trying to earn a living and build a house...how hard can it be? :D
