Glass Products - & CLEAR Plastic Products - QUestions

After reading here I`ve read that most people suggest NOT to wax the windows I`m curious as to why? I`ve had very good results from `claybaring` and then using NXT on the T-Tops of my MR2.

1. Is there something better for 'cleaning windows'?

2. Is there something better for making them shiny?

Like my winows I also claybar, and then use dark paint swirl remover on plastic lights (front and rear) to remove the 'haze' that builds up over time. Once the above is finished I top off with NXT and the plastic is SHINY for many months to come. I have done this so the dreaded Supra lights, and OLD MR2 lights (10+yrs) and achieved AWESOME results.

1. Is there a better product for removing haze from plastic than dark paint swirl remover (3m product - forget which 1 and don't have access to it right now)

2. Is there a better product for keeping the shine on the plastic?

Thanks :)

The main reason to not wax windows (windshield in particular) is that there can be smearing when the wipers are used. On the side windows, or T-tops, I doubt you'd notice much as there wouldn't be the friction of the wipers there.

Like BigLeegr said, it's not a good idea to wax the windshield because of wax buildup and smearing, but there are many people who do wax the side and rear windows with good results

Perfect.

I should have specified in the first post that I was not talking about waxing the windshield. I do however claybar the windshield and that yields awesome results alone :)

Thanks guys :up

While I can't say whether it is "better," since I haven't tried your process, I can tell you that I have used Meg's PlastX on my plastic headlight lenses with great success. Here's a link to the thread I started, with pics. I don't wax the plastic after polishing it. I'm afraid of a chemical reaction with the plastic that might irreversibly stain the plastic -- I'm not saying this will happen, I just don't want to risk it.

I'm of the opinion, if it ain't broke... But, if you want to try something new, give PlastX a shot.
