Glass maintenance tips

Hi there,

I've got a relatively new car (3 months old) which has a few water spots on the windscreen. Normal washing of the windscreen, nor using glass cleaner, has removed these.



In addition, I somehow can't seem to get the (invisible when dry) residue of the wiperblades away. So when using the wipers during rain, I can clearly see there is something on the windows that should be there. Like I said, I don't see this when dry, but when driving in the rain, it is somewhat annoying.



Would a regular glass polish by hand remove this ?

Are there any products that are particularly recommendable ?

I see you're in Germany...I have had success using what you would call there Carlack 68 by hand (Polishin' Pal with an orange pad) on my windshields to clean them up. Takes a bit of elbow grease. If you have a glass polish that may cut a little eaiser, then follow with the 68.

Do you mean the carlack 68 glass sealant, or the normal "carlack 68" ?

The latter would be the same as Klasse AIO.
 
The normal Carlack 68; I use Klasse AIO. You can also use paint polish, you can usually get pretty aggressive on glass as it's generally a lot harder than paint (although glass polishes always seem to have warnings on them). Some people here in the states used to recommend Bon Ami which is a kitchen cleaner.



PS Frequently the glass polishes seem to have some chemical additives in them in the way that metal polishes have to break down oxides, etc.
 
autoglym makes a glass polish. you can purchase it with polishing pads for for your pc, if you have one. i've used it and had great results. also try some white vinagar on those water spots that may work. hope this helps.
 
Try vinegar and water....then wash off with water and make sure non of the vinegar/water solution gets on your paint.....about a 50/50 mix or 70/30 mix if you have a hard time getting it off....
