Glass cleaning

I use a waffle weave glass towel and Stoners Invisible Glass. This combo works well and no streaks. I recently tried NXT Glass Cleaner and it's at least as good as IG and smells a lot better but at $13.99 CDN a bottle I will pass on that rip off.

Is there a difference between pakshak's ww glass towel and his regular ww towel?
 
I've been using an ultra MF from Pakshak and Stoner's IG and because of the high praise here I picked up a bottle of the NXT glass cleaner. Not the cheapest, but I do like the smell and it cleans very very well.



I also picked up a pair of glass towels from excel - they're really very cool, silk-like MF that seems to do a nice job of cleaning and polishing the glass.
 
Autoglym's Glass Polish is great for interior or exterior glass. It is a solvent based polish unlike liquid spray cleaners and it really cuts the vinyl haze build-up. I apply a few dabs on a paper towel and spread it across the windshield. It dries almost instantly and buffs off with a clean mf to the clearest streak-free windows I have ever seen.
 
I'll second the Autoglym glass polish. It's amazing how clear it leaves glass.



I apply it with a MF applicator and buff off with a clean MF towel.
 
For really sticky/grimy/won't clean off/problematic glass (non-tinted), a super cleaner is prepsol or 3m adhesive remover. Of course, you'll pass out if you use it in an unventilated area... If you're doing an interior, a respirator might be recommended. Follow up with NXT or IG or whatever you like :)
 
When cleaning your glass, use up-down motion on the outside and east-west motion on the inside (or vice versa). Using opposite motion will allow you to see where the streaks/residue trails are.



I use zero nap, glass microfiber towels along with either NXT GC, Invisible Glass, Vroom Glass Cleaner, or AutoGlym Glass Polish.

I checked the directions on the back of my AG GP bottle and it doesn't state specifically that it could be used on tinted interior windows.



It does caution against using it on any "plastic" or coated glass since it contains petroleum distillates. IMO, I would not use it on tinted interior windows.

Tint=Plastic+Autoglym could be bad, if you want some light polishing for tint use some Plexus great stuff.

Now thats some good info I will have to try that as that is the process I like the least and always gets me frustrated.



I just used the NXT recently from reviews and it works great, I need to experiment more with toweling though. But one plus is the smell it doesn't gag you:faint:, but it smells exactly like another product just can't put my finger on it......
 
Most OEM tints are in the glass and therefore nothing to worry about, post manufacturing tints are obviously applied on the inside and need careful cleaning
 
I have used ZEP 40 for years. I buy it by the case. It is the only streak free glass cleaner I have yet to find. I havent used the NXT yet but will definately give it a shot. Just my opinion from the newbie ;) . Are there any products out on the market to take out fine scratches out of glass? I have alot of them from my wipers. I change them every 3-5 months with OEM blades but the scratches seem to increase.

Me too only I buy even larger quantities at a time, that reminds me, I need to order another case or three. Works especially well on the winter salt type mess that tends to just smear around. Just be careful if you spray it on, it can be sorta tough on LSPs if you're careless.



I also like using Griot's polypropylene window towels, pn 14910.



As for the scratches, I've never had any success polishing out scratches in glass. I too replace my wiper blades all the time, but I end up replacing windshields pretty frequently too. About all you can do to avoid the scratches is to keep the glass and blades clean and never use the wipers until/unless the glass is wet enough that any dirt won't scratch. Heh heh, I've been known to pull over and clean the windshield by the side of the road so I can safely use the wipers without scratching, especially in the winter.

I've grown fond of the OTC Zep aerosol glass cleaner from Home Depot. I wonder if there is much of a significant difference between the two.



I like it enough to purchase it again.





I have three glass cleaners I use according to the stubborness of the dirty glass:



a plain IPA:water solution, the Zep and Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner : this is impressive stuff :up
