You beat me to it.......Im not liking the Nuba in it though. I really like the prior version......But its still above average as a product.....

Good thing I have a few tins of the old stuff then :grinno:

Q for you GW users: Does it, presumably due to high solvent contents, strip the "fillers" (using the term loosely ;) ) that the 1Z polishes leave behind? Polishes such as WaxPolishSoft do a good bit of concealing, and I've had other products strip the concealers and make marring "come back".

I ask this because I've been recommending 1z stuff a lot lately and people often ask about using GW for their topper instead of the heavy carnaubas that I usually recommend. I don't want to misinform anybody about the GW but I don't have any first-hand experience to go by.

I recommend 1z polishes, especially to newbies, because of their extreme user-friendliness. I know people who couldn't care less about detailing who've done great with 1Z, including a woman who got tired of waiting for her husband to do her Lexus...she borrowed my PC and with no coaching/training/prior experience did a great job with 1Z MP topped with #16 (and proudly proclaimed "I did it myself!"). Especially for people working by hand, I still think this stuff is a no-brainer.

I've been getting mine from PakShack.

On somewhat of a side note, I used a similar combination based on your recommendation (clay, PP, MP, IW), and it was the most satisfying result I've ever experienced detailing a car by hand. (Lots of comments from folks walking in and out of our shop.) The 1Z PP is *very* mild, no way I was going to risk damaging the 20 year old paint. So thanks a bunch! I've never been too impressed with past attempts on other vehicles, but refining things a bit with help from you and this site in general really made all the difference.

I may give GW a shot next time (over the 1Z polishes), although for some reason I'm itching to try IW over HD-Cleanse. Another thing I've discovered is that buffing the IW off with a microfiber "spritzed" with OCW provided a very nice result, to my eyes at least (sort of darkened things up a bit). Can't say how durability/beading is affected, though.

You can't imagine how much I appreciate that feedback..sure am glad it worked out so well for you.

Just be prepared to say "oops, never mind" if those approaches don't hide any residual marring as well as what you're doing now ;)

You might've discovered something good there! It sounds a little like when I use carnabua/etc.-rich QDs when waxing. See how the durability is, I sometimes think I trade a little durability for a little better appearance when I do that.
